TSN.ca - P.J. Tucker has agreed to a multi-year contract with the Toronto Raptors . Financial details were not disclosed. Tucker, 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, was an early entry candidate for the draft after three seasons at the University of Texas. He was taken by the Raptors with the 35th overall pick in June's NBA Draft.
I dont really follow NCAA basketball but correct me if im wrong, but didnt Tucker outrebound and outscore LaMarcus in Texas?Anyways this guy has a huge wingspan so hopefully he can help the Raptors on the defensive end, I dont expect him to play a major role on the team just yet with the depth that we have at the moment.
Yeah he is a very valuable player. He is a 6"5 G/F and he can score downlow and rebound. One of our major weaknesses was rebounding last season, so he should help us in that department. He played sh*tty in summer league, but we will see how he does offensively in the NBA.
yeah, he made all big-12. 18 ppg/9 rpg if i remember right. He was a beast in college. I hope he has some success in the league, just not for the Raps. :nasty:

In his first 3 or 2 games we only had about 10-15 minutes of playing time...with the last game or two in the summer league he was getting around the high 20s and then he starting posting impressive numbers. So I wouldnt be too worried about his "poor" performace in Vegas.
Gosh, in college this guy was an absolute monster. I just question if he will be able to do the same at the NBA level. The reason I say this is because as well all know, he is only 6 5. And even though he has an astonishing 7 foot wingspan, this will not matter as much at the pro level considering there is at least one 7 footer on each team(or in most cases). What made PJ Tucker so great in college is the fact that he got so many offensive rebounds. That is how he got a majority of his points. Off of o-boards and off of posting up. At the NBA level, his post game will take a big hit considering he will be going up agaisnt 6 foot 8, strong and athletic players. He doesnt have much of an outside game. He relies on his post game and hustle in order to get him points and rebounds. After saying all of that, he still has a decent chance of being successful. He is a hard nosed player that doesnt shy away from contact or from anything. He is also a winner, so his rookie season will be interesting.
THe Raptors have been taking care of business this season building a powerhouse of the future. They have covered every need, and done it by bringing in young guys that will grow into NBA studs, and I think Tucker is a fine example of that. The NBA game is different from College, but that doesn't mean he will forget how to rebound. He will grab 4 or 5 boards a game if he gets the consistant minutes to do so.
The raptors have covered everyting and now it's a matter of putting it all together and building the team chemistry which i believe it will not take so long for them to create. If anything i don't think that Sam Mitchell is the right man for the team but because of Chris Bosh i do expect him to be here for another season but i do hope that Bryan gets a better coach for the following season.
not that econizze had to dig the topic up but I see him similar to kris humphries but 4 inches shorter
Raptors Release PJ Tuckerhttp://www.nba.com/raptors/news/pressrelea...ker_032407.htmlI guess the Raptors have decided to leave him in the NBDL.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOObecause will regret this... what does this luke jackson guy have to offer that pj didnt?he had hustle.. he was a great rebounder for his size.. decent inside game...I remember when chuck went crazy when he scored that reverse layup on amare with such ease... this is a mistakeWHY
I don't get it either.. I've seen some NBDL games and Tucker doesn't look bad. He's signed longterm so why get rid of him? Someone make sense of this!
he earns 412,718 this year and 687,456 next year and then hes a free agentwell, he would have been a free agent that season if because didnt waive him...I still dont understand.usually guards who come out of d league are inconsistent, which is exactly what we DONT need. but tucker is a guy who is a winner and has hustle, aggressiveness... out of all the moves because made, I actually think this is the worst one lol
After seeing how we've done with Brian as our GM this season, I have full trust in him, lol. HE IS A GENIOUS.
