Why does every fat chick who can sing think she's Adele?
A slut with a big mouth and a major drug problem? I'm okay with that - are you not? I kinda like 'em that way. I mean, sure, they can lose the pipes - I don't need my night of fun ruined by her talking. But everything else sounds good to me.
I guess I'm not really familiar with her work, honestly. I just hear Adele everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I think she's a good singer, but you can't turn on the radio without hearing one of her songs. I used to listen to 101 until they killed that off. 94.7 is pretty terrible now. KGON would be okay if they didn't play the same 15 or so songs over and over. I don't understand how you can be a classic rock station and only play the same 15 or so songs. You're a classic rock station. You could choose from forty or fifty years of music and you can only come up with the Stones, Led Zep, the Beatles, AC/DC, and a few others? I love those bands, but I just think it's lame that they don't expand their horizons more. /tangent
All oldies stations use the same playlist. It comes from some secret central national source. It leaves out 80-90% of the hits I remember. Boring and repetitive.
Portland radio's been terrible for a while. I might be in the minority, but I was pretty pissed when they got rid of KUFO. There's 3 country stations, country sucks. Five top 100, most that stuff sucks. An alternative station, which I like, but 94.7 decides to play shitty stuff most the time and a couple classic rock stations. I've been to many other cities and listened to their radio. Ours is by far the worst.
I didn't understand the decision to kill KUFO. They were the only hard rock station in Portland, and they were successful. I saw plenty of people at the rockfests I went to. Why would you turn your back on a popular market like that? 94.7 is now basically hipster radio now. They should really take the "alternative" out of their marketing because there's very little "alternative" about them now. It was one thing when they were playing Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, etc, but they haven't been "that" station in a very, very, very long time. Now they just play weird indy rock. Not my cup of tea, but I guess this is Portland so they fit right in.
It's true. I visit SF and LA each a few times per year, and I know their stations better than I know ours because ours suck, so I don't listen. But I'll listen when I go down to CA. And I will stream some of those stations in my office. But generally, I go everywhere with my iPod and iPhone, and bring every type of connector I have. 10,000+ songs, so I can listen to whatever I want, whenever, and no commercials!
The funny thing is that I'll visit LA and hear songs months before they reach Portland. When I was in LA they were playing Pitbull and Kid Cuddy.... about four months later the songs finally reached Portland.
What? You're not a Canzano fan? It's sad how every person The Fan has hired has left after a short time here. At least everyone who was decent.
The funny thing about JC, it's not an act. He's not a shock jock. The guy is actually a prick. I spent enough time around him that I can tell you for certain that he's actually a douchebag.
Yeah, I've felt that vibe the couple of times I've been around him. His act is tired. I did appreciate his efforts to call out the Blazers on a few times. But I think the few times he did call out the org, and Blazers fans supported him.... it lead him to do it more frequently, and in a douchey way, and without legitimate reasons/support/sources.
The funny thing is, over the years I think Jason Quick has softened a bit... but Canzano's ego has only grown. I don't know if he actually thinks he's the voice of the people, or if he only enjoys pissing people off, but the guy definitely thinks he's god's gift to journalism.
The talent is there but these days they all sound similar. They don't make 'em like they used to:
Yeah, the dude's ego has gotten way out of check. The problem is, he's so ego-driven, I have no doubt that the fact that Paul Allen makes fun of him and calls him out only fuels his ego.
