A lot of us blazer fans migrated here from basketballforum.com around Sept 2008. ABM was the instigator of the move. A lot of us migrated there from fanhome.com, right around New Years Day 2003. L4L was the instigator then. Some probably mass-migrated to fanhome from someplace else before that, but that was before my time, so I can't comment on that. I'm curious what fraction of the current community was at the previous sites. I know this isn't going to give a statistically valid answer, but I'm asking anyway. barfo
In Summer 2003, half of the ESPN board went to basketballforum. My path is too complex for your 3 choices, so I can't vote.
I actually heard about BBF from Kevin Pritchard. I started over there in June 2005 (My first experience with any internet forum). Then over here in the great migration of '08.
I started posting in Blazer related message boards back in around 99' in a Foxsports forum when the Blazers were playing the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. Then a year later went over to ESPN for like 4 years, sporadically posting. Then went to BBF in like 2003-or -04? Then came over here in 08'.
I was at OL back in the mid-late 90's, when LakerLanny turned that place into a shithole. I think the first migration was to fanhome, but there may have been another site between the two. I remember ABM, Blazer Prophet, tlong and Eric (and a few others) from back in the dark Lanny days. Go Blazers
I posted in O-Live with shady characters like Sly from when I was 15 or so, that puts it around 2000. O-Live started doing their lag posting ( I assume to raise hit count) around 07/08 I got sick of it and Sly told me about this place.
O-Live was a great place to cut my teeth. I didn't like the format, but it was dog eat dog. I was also on a couple of private boards (still on one) but they have their ups and downs. On those it only took one person to ruin it for everyone. Here, since their are more posters a few rotten apples can be tolerated.
I've lurked around this core community for a long time. I seem to remember fanhome, basketballboards, and then basketballforum. I found basketballforums after losing track of the community for a time, but recognized some of the names so I just started going there for all my lurking needs. I found this one by googling some of the boardnames I remembered from basketball forums, after the board traffic completely died. I doubt I even posted on those first two boards. Fly on the wall and all.
I was on basketballboards for a bit before the mass exodus. I think I was out of town or something when it happened because I came back to the forum after not visiting for a month or so and it was DEAD. I missed all of the drama and everyone leaving. Every thread was about "that site that shall not be mentioned". It took a bit of digging for me to find everyone over here and I've been wasting my time on here ever since.
I came from BBF, but I originally came over from the AOL Boards. I had disappeared from the AOL Boards for a long time, then someone that I kept in touch with via AIM later told me about BBF. And then we rolled deep to S2.
