True dat! Latest reports indicate the fund will be dried up before I turn 50. F that! Thanks for stealing my money!
Yeah, that was just this week or last that the update came out. I'd heard some discussion about this, and there are some associated with the recent estimate that are projecting it to dry out a couple years earlier.
I won't even be 60 by then. SS age will probably be 75 by that point. Don't blame me, because I'll have paid more into it than you by the time it runs out. Consider yourself lucky.
Bragging? I've been paying into SS for 16 years. I thought you were a lot younger than me? I have a big head start, so it's likely that I'll have paid in a lot more than you when it runs out in 2033 or whenever.
I've been paying into SS for 16 years. I thought you were a bit older than me? I just hit the big 3-0.
I've only been paying in SS for 12 years. I took your comment to mean you were talking about how much money you were contributing each year.
I'd just like to point out that Social Security doesn't end when (if) the trust fund runs out. It just means that any benefits paid will come from the current year payroll taxes. That's estimated to fund about 75% of the current level of benefits (at the current level of taxes). barfo
i thought you got your first job down at the soda shoppe when you were 14? under the table? gaming the system! :MARIS61:
Yeah, I can see how you could take it that way. I don't judge people on how much money they make, unless they're public employees, of course.
I mean technically, I was 13, so it's been 25 years for me, but I don't think I was putting in much money until I actually started working for a salary instead of an hourly wage.
I just can't picture you driving along listening to NiN. You strike me as a Bryan Adams or a Michael Bolton fan.
I am - you're going to have a better chance at seeing my contribution to SS than I will. So I hope you enjoy those few pennies from my pocket. I hope they're crusty and covered in lint.
No, I don't see PapaG listening to The G... I'm thinking K103 though. Definitely a fan of the John Tesh radio show.
