This could blow up into a huge scandal if its true Hunter pushed money toward a subpar financial institution to benefit his son on the board of directors and his non-disclosure in breach of his fiduciary duties. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--n...ion-investment-for-bank-with-ties-to-son.html
Yeah. I'm curious to see how this one plays out. Hunter's position is that there is no reason for a financial audit because there was one conducted in February. Fine. Except . . . the person who led the audit and primary outside counsel for the NBPA is Hunter's daughter. That's a red flag to me. It doesn't necessarily mean that there are foul dealings at hand. I would think that someone as savvy as Hunter would avoid that that type of appearance of impropriety, unless there is something to cover up. I read the letter from the executive board expressing their vote of no-confidence at ESPN. I have to say, the executive board may be pissed at Fisher for the way he went about this, but the idea of an independent audit appears, from the outside, to be a no-brainer. The good news for the players, I think, is that it feels to me like the audit is being driven by the agents -- most of whom know what's up and have enough persuasion over their clients to get it done.
And here come the grown ups: The Southern District of New York US Attorney's Office is investigating the NBPA. It makes me feel good that even if our legislative process is FUBAR, the attorneys at the DOJ seem ready to step in when things have, or have the potential to, go horrible wrong. (That is, when they aren't green lightening programs to sell illegal guns to Mexican drug lords.)
Is there any major reconstruction planned for Giants Stadium any time soon? The east end zone doesn't have a union leader buried under it yet...
