Good luck to him. I know it didn't work out here, but he would be very valuable to a contending team. The funny thing about all the hatred over him, he is an amazingly nice guy. So nice it makes me nervous. He'd be a good politician once he retires.

You're saying that you get nervous around black guys who are nice?

Now you know how the rest of us feel when we see you cutting our lawns.

Its too bad that he is so nice, because never once did I see him sign autographs in the autograph area in the loading dock at the RG.

I saw him there at the dumpster, emptying everyone's wastebasket. He was always eager to help!

So it looks like we'll have about 25 million in cap space next year after factoring in cap holds for Batum and Joel Freeland. If we re-sign Batum to 8 mil a year, that number goes down to 22 mil with 7 players under contract. Our 2 rookies would take about 6 million total, leaving us with 16 mil and 9 players. That would be enough for a max deal. Or get Dragic for 10 mil and Hickson for 5-6.

I think he received a lot of undue criticism on this board, at least compared to Ray Felton. Those two were lumped together in a blame burrito, but Crawford actually had a somewhat productive season. He was over a 17 PER when Nate was fired, and slumped badly afterward when the offense was rolling the ball on the court and having Coach Canales run around flailing his arms on the sideline.

What about Hickson's cap hold of $5.8 million?

I assume the Blazers will extend him the Q.O., and if they can't make a huge early splash in FA, keep his RFA right. Deron Williams will be one of the first to make his decision, and after that, Dragic could easily be had even with Hickson's cap hold.

They'll either have to renounce him or sign him to that amount. I think other teams will offer him that amount this off season.

Right. That's what I'm saying. When Deron Williams re-signs with Brooklyn, Hickson will most likely end up in Portland. The Blazers don't have to sign him to his cap hold, though.

With Crawford opting out; we should just go this route. #1, trade our best pick and Matthews to Philly for Igs. #2 Offer QO for Batum. #3 On July 1st, send an offer for Dragic for 10 mil per. #4 Resgin Batum and Hickson.

It's not a bad plan other than Iggy is starting to trend downward in his career.

Well I just compare Iggy to Matthews. I think Iggy is more of a "go to guy" than Matthews. But you do have a point.
