That would still leave draft picks to trade or select also. Assuming we sign and trade for McGee because he is restricted, and deal say.....Matthews for him? We could follow the "Brain trusts" thoughts and trade both picks for someone like Granger maybe?

    Budenholzer

    Dragic
    Batum
    Granger
    Aldridge
    McGee

    Babbitt
    N. Smith
    Williams
    C. Smith
    Przybilla
    Freeland

    That doesn't suck

Another move I wouldn't mind seeing if the Blazers continue to fool themselves into thinking they can retool is trading Matthews and 11ish to Houston for Lowry and Dalembert

Oh, McGee's restricted? Bummer. Apparently he wants paid like $14 mil or something outrageous like that. Maybe they don't want to pay him but we would?

That looks pretty good. I won't get my hopes that high. I especially like Granger at SF and moving Batum to SG.

So in essence at best a recipe for mediocrity...at worst a recipe for disaster aka a repeat of this last year....

I would love for someone to explain how adding a guy like Lowry, Gortat, Iguodala or Evans are suddenly going to make this team a championship caliber team....

Or is that not the goal?

The cupboard is bare...adding 1 or 2 mediocre players isn't going to suddenly elevate POR anywhere...

At least with draft picks, if you have good scouts (not that POR does)...you have a very distinct possibility of drafting\developing a BETTER than mediocre player...and those are the types of players who DO elevate you past the 1st round....Not guys like Lowry, Gortat, Iguodala and Evans....

I agree with all of this, but in fairness to them, Lowry, Iggy and even Evans and Gortat aren't mediocre players. All of them are pretty solid players in this league, some going up, some coming down, but all soild and better than anything we have at those positions now, assuming you can move Batum to the 2. Do two of those make us a championship caliber team? LOL, no. Another thing to keep in mind is that with those players we would probably make the playoffs, thus giving up our draft pick next year to Charlotte. Be at or over the cap, so we wouldn't be able to improve on that team next year either.
