Yeah, I am thinking most of you don't give a crap about minor league hockey but our other team is making buzz and won the Western Conference Title last year and are in the WHL finals again. Yea, these young boys/men are between the ages of 16 - 20 but they are making a statement. The are tied up in the finals 1-1 game apiece. Some of us are proud, or at least I am.

I watched the game thursday and I concur now that Noebels was a great trade with Seattle. Noebles teams up great with Leipsic, Ross and Rattie. Don't forget Morrow and Pouliot for assists.
Leipsic had it going Friday night. Awesome game to watch on tv.

Hockey is exciting to watch. I wish Portland had an NHL team, but I know it'll never happen. I hoe the team has the magic of the 98 team.

The game of Hockey, which is fascinating to watch IMO, will not be regarded by the masses as a legitimate sport until they remove the embarrassing "brawling neanderthals" element from it.

A game of breakneck speed and pinpoint precision is not enhanced by morons hitting each other repeatedly while wearing ice skates.

You are missing on this one, Maris. Football and MMA are brutal sports, that continue to rise in popularity. Nascar is popular with many people for the crashes. Hockey is a wonderful sport that I grew up playing, but the reason it doesn't do well is because it is a shitty tv sport. It's awesome however in person. Somehow, and I'm not sure how, they need to figure out a way to make the tv viewing better.

I went to the Winterhawks game last night. Good time, good game! My only complaint is the long intermissions between periods.
I dont know much about hockey. Why do they sub in and out so much? How in the hell do they know when they are coming in/out?

They sub in and out so much because of the incredible amount of energy the players put out on the ice. Unlike basketball, if you don't go 100% in hockey you get the shit knocked out of you. They know who is coming in and out "on the fly" because a coach, usually an assistant, will call it. Also, most skaters know when they need a break. There are lines (1st team, 2nd team, 3rd team, etc. Also lines for power plays for and against, etc. When you are ready for it, I will explain home team getting the last substitutions and so on.
