I just don't see Indiana letting Hibbert go. He's going to get a max deal and they will match. They might let George Hill slip though.

This team needs a PG and a low-post scorer!

Also, Chicago wont let Thibs go.

Really renounce Batum because of Barnes? Shit if your going to do that at least do a sign and trade for someone serviceable. Like a two guard or something.

    RHR's draft would suck.

Almost as bad as the Nolan Smith draft.

    ..almost

    Mike Rice on Courtside:

"This team desperately needs a tough rebounder!"

    Uh, like Kenneth Faried?

Every summer Shortcomings has tried out in the U.S., NBA scouts have reported nothing but negatives. They think he's definitely not NBA material.

I would hire myself as GM and coach. Then, I would do the following:

I would make Dragic priority #1. I think he is the PGOTF and I would even be willing to "overpay" him a bit. Not only would this, in all likelihood, assure that we get him, but it would allow us to enter the draft with a clearer picture of our needs. By working backwards in this manner, it's easy to see that a quality big man becomes priority #1 on draft day. Since I am of the opinion that we could move LMA to the center position if needed, I'd be looking for the best possible PF or C.

To obtain the best PF or C available, I would work the phones and see what my draft picks can get me. If you could pick up a good, young, established big guy, I might just do it. Perhaps Utah wants to make room for Favors and would trade Millsap or Al Jeff? Something like that. If not, I'd try and use both draft picks to trade up and take the best big man available. If that still doesn't work, I'd see if trading one of the picks couldn't help us unload a bad contract or two and give us more money to play with in free agency. If that doesn't work, I'd just take the two best players available. If that doesn't work, I'd retire immediately.

Trade Aldridge + Matthews to Orlando for Howard
Sign D. Williams to max (Superteam with Howard will be his motivation)
Resign Batum and Hickson (match if reasonable)

    Williams
    E. Williams/Batum
    Batum/Babbit/rookie
    Hickson
    Howard

I like this. I had the idea of trading both picks, Aldridge and Matthews for Howard as well a few weeks ago. Even if it's only for a year, the team needs to rebuild anyway

It could be an avalanche affect. If you can get Howard (seems like they must trade him), then you dramatically increase your chances of pulling in Williams. Then, once Williams is in, you hold Howard's bird rights and also give him that star tandem.

I do agree that even if it goes bad, I don't see this team building a contender around LMA. It just moves them into full rebuild that much earlier--more chances to get a true #1.

I would see if we could hold onto Aldridge and get Orlando to bite on a Batum + both draft picks deal. Or maybe trade our two picks to move up and then package Batum + a top 3 pick for Howard. The key is to get Howard and Williams WITH Aldridge, and then start making offers to some of the vets that will be on the free agent market this summer to fill out your roster. Maybe they'd bite.

    Williams/Smith
    Matthews/EWill
    Babbitt/??
    Aldridge/Hickson
    Howard/Thomas/Joel

It would leave some pretty big holes at small forward and we'd still need a backup point guard. Maybe get Grant Hill as the backup SF and Chauncey Billups as the backup PG/SG?

If Howard leaves Orlando it'll be because he wants to play in the New York market. He's not a realistic option.

I'd throw the sink at one center who I think could be the best scoring big in the League if he has the right coach (note the sig)

    Here's my plan:

1.) Hire a Fucking GM, one that has a heartbeat.

2.) Hire a Coach, one that has an offense.

    3.) Acquire Steve Nash

4.) Resign the Current Players: Felton, Hickson, Batum, C. Smith

5.) Draft: Jeremy Lamb, Zeller/Sullinger, or Kendall Marshall and bring over Freeland

    6.) Go to War:

    Nash/Felton/Smith/Marshall
    Mathews/Batum/Lamb/Ewill
    Batum/Lamb/Babbit
    LMA/Hickson/Smith/Sullinger?
    Freeland/Pryzbilla/Zeller?

So, you want to ensure we never make the playoffs.

Exactly, I want to hit the lottery one more year.

In all seriousness, if cheap he'd make a great backup for an uptempo second unit behind Nash. So long as he doesn't have the ball in crunch time, he's fine.
