    By acquiring the Spurs' 1st rounder this year, the Warriors can trade this year's pick and still trade next year's No. 1. So not only did they get a pick for SJax, they also gained more flexibility in possibly trading next year's No. 1, whether they keep this year's or not. Cost was $10M (extra year on Jefferson's contract); who cares, not the fans' money, right? Thank you Lacob and ownership.

    I don't think they can trade next year's pick as long as we get our own pick this year. We wouldn't own it, the Jazz still would.

    That sounds like it may be right since we do owe the Jazz some picks according to nbadraft.net

    that was the stupid Marcus Williams pick Larry Riley was involved with back in 08. It seemed like a good idea in principle until you saw how slow this guy was and how he couldn't shoot or play defense.

    FWIW Mullin made the trade for Marcus Williams. Riley lowered the conditions.

    If it's a 1-7 pick, I think you can trade it since you'd then own it.

    Do we lose next year's pick if we keep this year's? If so, then I don't think you can trade the pick

    You can't trade two years' picks in a row. Once it is your turn to pick, you can trade it and I think the next year's too.
