The NFL is an easy target since nobody really cares about it outside of the US and Canada. Try as the NFL might they can't seem to generate interest in the sport. NFL Europe or whatever it is called is probably never coming back. That being said, the average NFL team is worth over $1-billion as of 9/7/2011. The UFC in total is reportedly worth about $1.5-billion. Dana is a promoter, first and foremost.
On a global scale, I would agree with Dana White. Hardly anyone outside North America cares about the NFL. Fighting translates easily.
Yes, plus you already had established fanbases such as Japan or Brazil before Dana even got to the UFC.
