I think I go Cousins ahead of Hibbert, better rebounder and athlete. I think I put Noah first because stats are comparable but I like that Noah plays hard every game.

    So..
    1-Noah
    2-Cousins
    3-Hibbert

    4-McGee

    5-Humphries
    6-Gortat
    7-Asik

Hard to rank anyone above DeMarcus Cousins in terms of talent, but could you get him, and is the talent worth the potential headache?

He's under contract with the Kings for three years, and even if he did request a trade back in January, wouldn't there be a host of teams with more to offer than the Blazers?

Also - the fact that he's already requesting a trade in just his second season raises a bit of a red flag, doesn't it?

That said, he's only 21, averaging a double-double... Hard to turn down.

Are you talking about trading for these guys? Most of them are under contract.

Denver is not going to let McGee get away after trading Nene away for him.
I thought Noah already signed a long contract.
Hibert is not going anywhere. They will match
Gortat has a few years left and so does Cousins.

Personally I don't see getting any of them

I was talking about the Blazers trying to get these guys. Although I agree that most are not gettable, I listed players that I have read at some point in the last few months could be available at the right price. That might be false and there is no way these guys could be acquired, or, the price could simply be too steep. However, I just wanted to evaluate a semi-realistic list of centers that the Blazers could target.

Really, the Blazers can address their center problem in three different ways. 1) trade for centers already in the league. 2) Draft centers or trade to draft centers. 3) Sign unrestricted or restricted free agents. If I had my preference, I would like to sign a free agent because that would still leave our draft picks and other pieces to try and get a starting PG. But the truth is that the Blazers don't have a ton of draw at the moment and they have a lot of players t o acquire. This is one of the more difficult offseasons for the Blazer brass.

    I see.

In that case Hibbert would be at the top of my list. But of course he is not going anywhere.

Then I would take a chance on Cousins because the guy does have loads of talent. Of course ff Sacramento wanted to give up on him then I would be very leery to know why.

I certainly would not mind Omer Asik or Marcin Gortat for the right price.

Noah is good, but his salary is too high to trade for especially if we had to give up talent to get him.

Time to revise my coaching rankings -- Carlisle has signed an extension with the Mavs today.

People are totally overlooking Cousins skillset and potential.

I don't think there is a sane GM that would take Noah/Hibbert over his potential.

Potential isn't the only factor in making decisions. Any GM worth his salt wants a big ass defensive C in there to anchor a defense and prevent shots around the rim. Cousins doesn't do that, and the fact that he's 6'10ish might make him more of a 4 than a 5. Yes, hes got great potential, but hes volatile off the court.

LMA/Hibbert would be the most dominant front court in the league all around.

I don't think he is being overlooked. In every ranking in this thread he is listed 1,2 or3. To be exact, he has 2 first place votes, 3 second place votes and 2 third place votes.

As far as ranking them, I agree he has the highest ceiling but he also has a pretty decent shot at screwing up his life or not focusing on the game. I'm just saying there is a risk. So there are drawbacks. All three players have similar PER's with Cousins at 21.72, Hibbert 19.35 and Noah at 19.59.

Looking over the stats, i think it would make sense to rank Cousins first, he has the best PER and is the youngest. But then you have to look behind the numbers to the teams these players played on. Cousins was on the Kings, a shitty team with me first attitude. while the other two were big parts of their teams making the playoffs. I'm just saying that I can see a good argument made for cousins being ranked #1, #2 or #3 on this list. I would love to have him but Noah just sneaks past him because I value the experience and leadership Noah has shown, and I think a lanky defensive center that gets up the floor super fast and does not take moments off would be better next to Aldridge.
