11mil per for DeAndre boggles my mind. Seriously. I thought all the hubub last summer was to prevent that shit.
No, Lionel Hollins doesn't seem like much of a coach to me. Didn't understand his substitution patterns and I know it's a small sample size but on the "inside trax" thing he never really said anything to his team about strategy or anything of the sort.
I'm pretty suspect about Hollins. The Grizz overachieved last year and looked really good all around. I was watching as much of the Clips-Grizz series as I could I wasn't very impressed with them in the playoffs this year and I think Hollins mismanaged the game quite a bit. I've been a fan of them since their run last year largely because of their personnel. I love Tony Allen and Marc Gasol. Z-Bo is endearing in his old age. Conley is fun to watch, and Gay can be very impressive. Last season they also had Battier and Darell Arthur. They played with great intensity and toughness, but was that Hollins' coaching or is it Chris Wallace putting together a pretty smart, talented, deep squad with some elite defensive role players? If not for the players completely blowing that 20 pt lead in game 1 they would likely be in the second round right now as well... Hollins definitely had his guys playing hard for him and he had them focused and intense on defense. I don't know about his x's and o's, his ability to adjust, or his game management. The Grizz did do great with what they had last season. They should have beat the Clippers this season though, and I think if he made better adjustments it would have made the difference in the series. Although the players are to blame for the game 1 loss, and the Clips benched murdered the Grizz to start the 4th quarter in game 7 and I also blame that more on the players than the coach. I don't think hes a long term answer, but he could be a good transitional coach if you want to get your team to have a defensive oriented, tough, balls out culture attached to it. Conley, Gasol, Gay and Arthur ended up developing well under him though so that is also a plus
That leaves one possibility, Phil Jackson. He may be 66, but he has all-new legs and will last another 100,000 miles.
