Chad and Larry Drew. At least I'll save money on league pass next year

I like Chad and think he has been as active as any GM in recent history. Some moves were good, some moves were bad, but he hasn't had his feet in the quicksand afraid to make a move. If the GM is the one who gets credit for the moves, just this trade deadline he got rid of two popular players and a highly reputable coach. He isn't afraid to pull the trigger to try and make this team better.

Having said that, if Blazers could bring in someone who might get more respect around the league, it's time for Chad to step aside.

yes. And I think that is all this is. Based on what Freeman said last week, it almost sounds like Buchanon doesn't want the job.

Rhetorical questions: Why is it taking so long? Why would they wait until after the draft to hire a GM?

I submit that the ONLY logical reason is that they are eyeing a GM whose team is still in the playoffs. That is the only thing that makes sense.

    Now, whom might that be...?

That is a logical reason ... but it's definitely not the ONLY logically driven hypothesis.

The longer they wait they likely will miss out on some of their candidates (per Quick)

It's only been 12 freaking months since Cho was fired. That's just embarrassing.

Morway and Bower could remove themselves much in the way Dennis Lindsay did last year. I don't know if they were that impressed with what they interviewed you would think they would just pull the trigger on a hire. All this waiting sends the wrong message to candidates

Unless PA is ready to relinquish the majority of control we may as well retain Buchanan as the "GM."

Let's see what has Chad Miller has done.....

    Drafted Nolan Smith....fail
    Traded for Felton.......fail
    Signed Crawford......fail
Traded Camby for Thabeet and Flynn.....meh
Wallace for NJs 1st round pick....good

    He gets about a 30% F-!

And this is the body of work Larry Miller refers to when he talks about all they've done without a GM. Oh well....not much worse than when we DID have a GM, so I guess he has a point.

He also fired Nate, decided not to offer Nic an extension, picked up Joel, waived Oden, waived Johnson, left this team with cap space and draft picks.

He has been busier than most GM over the last year, some good and some bad. But as you mentioned probably no better or worse than many other GMs

I like how you (and others) assume that's all 100% on him.

He also signed Kurt Thomas and Craig Smith. We thought we had an unfillable gap at sub C and sub PF, but he quickly filled the roster gaps in the short period after the lockout.
