That made too much sense. It doesn't deserve a response.

AMEN. How do people not realize that they call the majority of PFs undersized? Since they are the majority that makes them average

Anthony Davis is Brandan Wright 2.0

FWIW I do fall into the class of people who prefer to have a tall PF in addition to a space eating C. Most championship caliber teams of late have had this. But Thomas Robinson is such a quality college player with his combination of skill, athleticism, tenacity, and motor. Hes getting knocked way too hard for his height, especially since hes got a body like Josh Smith or Brandon Bass.

As for your second point, I couldn't disagree more. I was a big fan of Wright at UNC and was stoked the Warriors got him, but he proved to be extremely passive and to this day his progression has been underwhelming. For several years he didn't improve on anything at all and hes just now looking like a passable 8th or 9th man. Wright averaged 6.2 rpg and 1.8 bpg in college. The 6.2 rpg is pretty crappy no matter how you slice it, even factoring in that he averaged 27 mpg and he played next to Hansbrough. He was a good shotblocker then, and his shotblocking has translated over into the NBA. But Anthony Davis' 4.7 bpg is just on another level entirely. Wright is still a crappy rebounder and has maxed out his weight at maybe 230 lbs. (came into the league at 200 lbs!).

Davis looks taller to me and just going off the eyeball test he looks like hes got much broader shoulders and thicker legs. He seems much more mentally tough, focused, and intense. He seems willing and able to be physical down low. He committed to playing defense like a KG. Davis averaged over 10 rpg in college. Hes might be even more of a wild card on offense than Wright was but he does flash a pretty good handle from time to time and I love his (alleged) work ethic.

FWIW this comparison is another reason why I have grown to like John Henson despite trying not to like him because of his being a fellow bean pole UNC PF to BW. When you look at them more closely you see that Henson was a far superior rebounder (even despite playing next to Zeller). He plays with intensity that Wright has never shown. He's put up some tremendous bpg numbers in his own right, although it should be considered that hes a junior now while BW was a freshman. He was hitting 18 foot jumpers consistently this season at UNC. Wright was compared more to a Chris Bosh/KG type whereas Henson's upside is more like Camby, but I've come to realize that although Henson reminds one of Wright, hes a much better rebounder, probably a better shotblocker, and his mental makeup is much better IMO. Henson's frame is a legitimate concern, but hes also being overlooked because of his lack of offensive upside. If his body can hang with NBA bigs I like his potential to be a really nice defensive role player. Its also key if he measures out at his listed 6'11, because that would allow him to spend a lot of time at C.

As a final note, I do think Henson's base/center of gravity is a question mark and could cause for him to get thrown around like Wright has been. I don't see that issue with AD.

I was only trying to get across that with how small Davis is, I don't think he can make that great of an impact as a post player in the NBA. I have no reason to believe he will gain strength/mass, no player that skinny has succeeded in that regard as far as I can tell. They always stay about the same size, no matter how hard they try. He'll get pushed around and probably broken.

Yep, no one puts on strength and mass after they're 19.

He might get pushed around plenty as a rookie, but he's only going to get bigger and stronger as an NBA player.

I'm sorry, but The HCP thinks this Robinson kid is Michael Beasley all over again!

So you're the one advising Chad on the draft? That explains a lot

Honestly, do you not think I know about basketball? I think I would kick ass in the war room.

I don't necessarily think Beasley is a bust though...He is actually a decent player...worthy of where he was picked? No...

I think the off court\mental issues are what have hampered him more than anything...the talent is there it is just all of the other shit that is keeping him from being the player he could be....

Not sure about Robinson's make up, but if he somehow slid to #6, I'd have no problem with POR picking him...I think he could be a good fit next to LA....

Yeah, no sure things, but I definitely think a few years from now there wil be some star caliber players besides Davis out of this draft for sure...

what off court issues affect his ability on the court? If he has mental issues that cause him to be a bad player, then that is part of his talent and makeup, and he will never "be the player he can be" He IS the player he can be.

Drug use probably affects his play dramatically?

    Why are you arguing semantics?

The point I was making (and that you missed) was that TALENT WISE...purely athletic and basketball talent wise he has the potential to be a lot better than he currently is...the talent is there....but other factors have hindered him...and likely will continue to hinder him....

Beasley absolutely tore apart college basketball! Couldn't be stopped. Supposed to come in and continue the dominance. This screams bust.

Amick is high on Henson -- he's being slept on because he's 6'11" 225 lbs., same thing happened to Joakim Noah.

What evidence is there to suggest that? Pretty sure there is none, because it just doesn't happen in the NBA. There's a reason he's so skinny, it's most likely genetic. You think he hasn't been working out for at least 4 years already? Nothing has happened except getting taller. These guys don't put on mass even after their rookie seasons.

Unless the team mindset has changed from last year, should we expect a Barnes/Zeller draft? I hope not.
