Mt. St. Helens went BOOM! Damn I'm getting old!
Ya. I remember mowing my families lawn in a mask for months. My mom still has a picture of Mount St Helens that we took from our front yard
My parents have a couple of big coffee cans full of ash I collected for them. We had to wear masks walking to school for a few weeks.
Crazy how time flies. I remember seeing the eruption in central Oregon -- the ash plume was huge to be able to see it that far away.
In Seattle, it put ash all over my car. The first time I drove, it blew off, except for a thin sticky layer. The next time I took it to a carwash was 16 months later and I was sorry to lose my ash.
I remember referring to those painters masks as an "ash mask" years later and my friend was like "what?" Every time I see one of those masks I think about Mt St. Helens.
