The third option (which is no better) is that he correctly evaluated the players drafted, argued vociferously against them, and was simply voted down by an owner/management who doesn't respect him.

You really need proof that a coach who had been here 6 years and was under contract for 3 more was more powerful than a substitute pretending to temporarily play at being the GM, who had worn that silly GM hat that no one believed for about a week?

You ask how could he be overruled? How about because he was a little peanut masquerading as big bad McMillan's boss?

You really bought that Buchanan had the powers of a GM? Why would you think that?

If that truly was the case then why wouldn't the "interim" tag already have been taken off? You don't think that Allen & co, would recognize the accuracy of his draft board\player rankings and even if they did overrule Buchanan they would at least acknowledge that he knew what he was talking about?

what about 2010? 2009? Did Buchanan get overruled then as well? Maybe Buchanan got his analysis wrong....SEVERAL tiems he has gotten it wrong in fact...

and letting Nate, a coach who doesn't even scout let alone pay attention to college basketball pick one player over another is beyond stupid...You have scouts for a reason, to correctly identify talented players...Buchanan has failed to do that..

and like I stated earlier, if he doesn't raise his have the conviction to state a case for why a player should be chosen, then he shouldn't be GM and you have to question him as a "head" scout as well....

Someone called on the radio today and made a great point, how is it that San Antonio with mostly picks in the lower half of drafts can consistently find players (or find free agent pickups) to fit thier system and POR scouts seemingly cannot?

This team cannot get a new GM and scouts soon enough IMO...and after that, you just hope they are better than what we have and not worse (Nash).

You can't find players to fit a system when you don't have a system.

It helps that the coach is also the boss of the GM.
