Nick Diaz has been suspended for one year following an unsuccessful appeal to the NSAC after testing positive for marijuana metabolites in the wake of his decision loss to Carlos Condit in February. It is Diaz's second marijuana-related suspension. Diaz's defense lawyers had hoped to end his suspension after making the distinction between THC being in his system and latent metabolites. In related news, Jon Jones is likely to be suspended following his drunk driving arrest in upstate New York last week. Jones was inebriated when he crashed his Bentley Continental GT into a pole early Sunday morning. Neither he nor his passenger suffered any injuries. Jones is meeting with UFC President Dana White this week where a determination on punishment will be made--an upcoming title defense against Dan Henderson in September hangs in the balance.
Jones' arrest will rule out his upcoming title defence against Dan Henderson in September, according to DFW.
