Shooting is included in PER Rebounding is included in PER TS% is included in PER +/- is included in WinShares You can make it seem like LA is "better" in a bunch of categories with tons of redundancy. It is just a lot of noise. Carmelo 21.1 PER, .160 WinShar per 48 LaMarcus 22.7 PER, .169 WinShar per 48 No matter how you shake it, Carmelo and LA were roughly on PAR. So, you are a voter who isn't a Blazer fan, do you pick the player who has showed up for some playoffs? Who has been the number fucking one offensive option on the USA team? Come on! Get over the NW persecution complex. It is old, tired and boring. LA didn't get jobbed. He needs to play better and have a bigger impact on the game. Then he can get jobbed.
IMO, the biggest fallacies in your previous post were: The biggest argument in favor of LA is the fact that he has a MUCH bigger impact on the game than 'Melo does. http://www.82games.com/1112/11POR13.HTM#onoff http://www.82games.com/1112/11NYK10.HTM#onoff Check the figures--quite simply, Portland was a much better team when LA was on the floor (by one of the largest margins in the NBA), whereas NY actually performed better without Carmelo than with him. Even if you ignore LA's statistical superiority, his team impact shows that he was better this year than 'Melo was. Oh, and one other thing... Playoffs and Olympic team record are irrelevant (or at least should be) in terms of the regular-season all-NBA team voting. If those were considered, then it's further support to my claim that LA got jobbed. Which he did.
Sorry, but all this "LMA got jobbed" talk strikes me as very misguided. Do we really need/want to elevate individual accomplishments above team accomplishments? IMHO, the Blazers underachieved as a team - ergo no individual on the team deserves to be rewarded with individual glory. The highest praise you can give any of them is to say "he wasn't a big part of the problem."
+/- and on court/off court numbers are very "noisy". Can't be relied to make a claim of one player on one team vs. another player on another team. When the candidates are CLOSE (as they are, regardless of you keep repeating the same thing over and over and over doesn't change the fact that they were close); the those VERY VERY impressive past accomplishments (compared to LA's) do matter. Like a lot.
Why should past accomplishments be taken into account AT ALL in choosing an All NBA team for THIS season? That's ridiculous. It's not some career achievement award. I's an award for this season. Making the olympics means nothing.
I'm working for that trophy. I haven't checked my refs in over a year, and I haven't given any in over two.
