Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. TBA (Jun/23) TBA always comes to fight! UFC reportedly looking at 185 and 195 options for the main event. The rest of the card will likely be announced next Monday morning when the finals are set. Probably ten-twelve of them will be selected to fight on this card.
Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. TBA (Jun/23) This card has gone to shit. The PPV sales are going to be dismal.
Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. TBA (Jun/23) Alan Belcher ruled out as possible opponent. Broken knuckle from Toquinho fight and still in the cast.
Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. TBA (Jun/23) That being said, a card with 18 or 20 Brazilians is always going to be worth watching, especially with them fighting at home for a place in the UFC.
Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. TBA (Jun/23) Wandy says Belfort is out of the fight due to his tiny, nearly invisible balls.
Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. TBA (Jun/23) Yah, but part of the PPV draw is the star names. People pay to see stars. With how pricey the PPV's are ($54.99 for HD) and with no discount being offered by the UFC (buy a group of cards for a certain $$ or % off type of deal) not many people are going to pay to see this...and me being one of them. I'm not all about star power, but this is no better than a UFN card. Hopefully it produces great fights though.
Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. TBA (Jun/23) Yeah and the fights don't seem to be of any real consequence. Werdum isn't fighting for a title shot, Wandy is in the ether, and the rest of the guys are borderline UFC talent. Takes the wind out of a card to think that none of the fights have ramifications beyond the card.
Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin 2 (Jun/23) The main event will be five rounds and contested at 190-lbs., I guess to accommodate Franklin's short notice.
Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin 2 (Jun/23) Daniel Sarafian (middleweight finalist and favourite) is injured so the UFC has made the odd choice to give his finals spot to Sergio Moraes.
Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin 2 (Jun/23) The UFC actually offered refunds for people who bought tickets prior to all the lineup changes for this one.

Re: UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin 2 [tonight!] Tatame magazine claims Anderson Silva will be paid approx. $250,000 USD for his Burger King sponsorship tonight. Gives us an idea of what a mainstream sponsorship can do for a fighter. I think 9/10 UFC fighters would be thrilled with 10% of that. Ironic that Silva worked at and loves McDonalds, and has spoken at length about it in the past (ditto for GSP).

Despite bad PPV buyrate numbers stateside, UFC 147 reportedly had huge viewership (in the millions) on Brazilian television. Grain of salt.
