Is Carlos Condit tucking? Is sitting on the belt fair or foul?

Dude won the interim championship in February. The point of the interim championship is that the belt is active when the real title holder is not. Having the real belt and the interim belt on the shelf seems counter-productive. GSP isn't ready to fight until around October. Should Condit be forced to defend his belt or is he in the right waiting for the unification bout? Is the winner of Ellenberger/Kampmann or Hendricks the guy he should fight in the meantime? Has Greg Jackson sucked the life out of him?

Maybe they should have a provisional interim championship belt for when the interim champion isn't willing to fight and the disputed champion is away from the game?

Condit has really taken a turn for the worse in the eyes of the fans. He fought safe and smart against Nick Diaz, yet the majority of people saw it as him running from the action, and now he wants to wait for his fight with GSP? He should be stripped of the interim title if he isn't going to fight. Just let him keep his #1 contender status. He should defend, but he won't. Surely he will have to defend his interim belt if GSP has any setbacks.

I understand he wants to get to GSP, but what kind of champion doesn't believe in themselves to continue to win? Like speeds said, the point of the interim guy is to keep the belt active. Its completely useless if the guy refuses to fight for 10 months.

Hendricks deserves a title shot and it makes no sense to make everyone wait on Condit/GSP in November when you could easily have at least one title shot in the meantime before GSP is ready again.

He should fight, IMO. The point of the interim title is to have an active belt when the champ is inactive. I think the UFC should explain that to him.

Maybe the UFC isn't pushing for him to fight? Maybe the brass wants him vs GSP to happen and its guaranteed to happen if he doesn't take a fight.

They aren't. White has said as much. Condit is waiting for GSP. I just think it is wrong.
