He's intriguing but I'd still much rather go the rout of trading up to get the better talent (MKG,Beal)-- Every year there is a Lillard somewhere in the first round.
I read someone comparing him to a young Latrell Sprewell (with his head on straight). Seems pretty close to his upside.
When you factor in their builds it's hard to compare: MKG (age 17): 6'7.5" 228 lbs (via Draftexpress) Spree: 6'5" 190 lbs
Man........ none of these guys are standing out above the others once you get past 5 or 6......... who the hell knows who will be there at 11!
Its not like Spre was a dynamic offensive player. He had a so-so long distance shot, but got a lot of his points by being great in transition, just like MKG. Sprewell was always kind of an overrated player. Both are great defenders though, I think thats where the comparison is sorta valid.
But he averaged 20+ points his years while a Warrior though. I honestly can care less about % if you are putting the points on the board! Rather have Spree.....
Spree came out as primarily a defensive player but despite having a so-so jumper he got to the rim because of his athleticism though he did have a knack for getting to the rim. MKG shows that at times but can he do it at will? His shooting mechanics are more fugged up than Spree's too. I'm surprised he weighed in at 228 lbs, he looks pretty thin to me.
He was putting up 18 and 20 shots a game during those years. He was the premier player on those Warriors teams. MKG won't be counted on to put up 20 shots a game. Spre never got a PER over 20.

There is a lot of talent late in the draft and I would not mind trading our 2nd rdrs and cash to move up to later 1st rd. These recent comments from a western conference exec would suggest that could be easily doable: "According to one western conference executive, a lot of non-lottery teams in the 1st round are looking to trade their pick this year for salary reasons. Teams Looking to Trade First-Round Picks: Over the next few weeks, don’t be surprised if a large number of teams outside of the lottery try to trade their first-round pick. Multiple sources have told HOOPSWORLD that a lot of teams are trying to get rid their pick, which could make for an interesting draft night. “Almost everyone wants to get out of their pick in this draft,” said one Western Conference executive. “For some teams, it’s hard to take on money for multiple years in this economic climate, especially if the player would not make an impact and help the team win immediately.” That means contending teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder or Chicago Bulls may opt to trade their late first-round pick rather than draft a rookie who won’t really contribute (just like Reggie Jackson and Jimmy Butler this season). Expect plenty of trade rumors over the next several weeks."
