Because nerds on the Internet consider a short term rental of CP3 to be the best free agent acquisition ever.

Did he call the team together and say it in front of the players?

    Link?

I don't mind that Olshey leveraged whomever for a better deal. I don't care if he's a car salesman, if he's a good one. Do we want a GM who's a lousy negotiator? I think not.

I'm going to take that Paul got his man at face value. I hope Paul has his comfort level back and his trust issues resolved.

Now, who's our next coach? :)

Maybe you noticed, but my post was in the form of a question.

Dude made a "consolidation" trade that significantly upgraded his team's chances at making the 2nd round of the playoffs. It wasn't a rental, it wasn't a FA acquisition and plenty of non-internet nerds liked it ,too.

And having a GM is better than not, or else you'd see the majority of teams without GMs.

Can't expect everyone to like the signing.

Very sorry, a trade for CP3, not an acquisition. That'll be even more useful to us as we have such an array of talent to trade.

I'm just curious who would have been the better hire here? Morway? Bower? Retain Buchanan? I think this was easily the best option available.

I don't get you tonight. We've got an almost-franchise player, a highly-sought (if not highly-valuable) RFA, two lotto picks, 2-4 rotation players on rookie contracts (of various quality, sure) and a bunch of cap space. THere are myriad ways to go this offseason. And if you're of the opinion that having a guy who throughout the league is known as a smart guy, who has a history of pulling off "acquisitions" to help his team get better quickly is worse than having Nate and Bert Kolde veto trades our interim GM lined up, then I don't know what to tell you.

I was down, thanks to that Haynes (or whatever his name was) article. Now I'm up. Surely Olshey knows who the good coaching prospects are, and Paul probably already concurs or he wouldn't have hired him. He and Paul need to huddle up for a couple of days and sign one of them.

CP3 douchely demanded a trade to the Clippers...

Can't really give him credit for that one.

Best post I've seen all day. The fact that he used the available leverage to the best of his ability is a good thing. Repped.

Well, that's a good point, since I applauded KP and Penn for trying to leverage Bert Kolde.

How long does Olshey, who overtly leveraged PA and Sterling, last? I'm giving it 18 months before he's frozen out by Bert and the Boys.

I don't mean this to be flippant, but if he lasts that long, that's kind of a win right there

This board is all about the bash. It started before this thread. In fact, the very existence of this thread opens the door and kicks off the bashing

He could sign Deron Williams, keep Batum at $8 million per, and trade our draft picks for a proven big man and many on here would still bitch and moan.

You are incorrect. I have no opinion on the hire. How can I? I had never heard of him until a couple hours ago. So I'm just asking how long til everybody starts bitching and how does anybody know if this is a good hire or not. Did they all run out and read up on the guy real quick to have an opinion?

    Sadly, you are correct.
