So a Utah radio station is speculating that he'll be the next coach of the Blazers.

Factoring in his age do you still opt for him over Mike Malone?

I'd take whichever one wants to work here ... if it came down to one or the other I think it would all depend on what their plan was/is and if those plans dovetail with what Olshey -- and Allen -- want to do.

The Jazz were consistently one of the best teams in the league until Sloan left. I think he's a damn good coach, even if I think he's an ass. I'm in favor of bringing him in. Deron Williams was a way better player under Sloan.

I'd go with a coach who can stay awake past 10.... it'll be helpful in the OT games at the Garden.....

I'd like a younger coach with energy. McMillan and his staff seemed to have lost that.

Energy is nice and all (part of the job description) but really they need to get a guy who knows what the fuck he's on about (be that Malone or Sloan or somebody else).

I think an Olshey/Sloan combination would quickly put to rest that PA requires complete day-to-day control over the Blazers. If Allen really wanted to relinquish control to this degree, how about he brings in Phil Jackson as a Pat Riley type? My head is spinning right now. Seriously, would this be a good business move? Hire Olshey as GM, Sloan as HC, and Phil Jackson as "President." Combine that with the two lottery picks and favorable cap situation - and sell the fucking team! That is nasty!

Sloan's just too damn old. I think Mike Malone's name is still floating around, but the new GM will obviously be making the call.

I'd try Sloan. His age is worrying, but even in his last year he was a lot better than McMillan. He always made do with less talent than us and made ordinary players (e.g. Wesley Matthews) into good ones.

Might as well get feelers out for Jack Ramsay's availability?

Totally agree, I'd love to see a total rebuild of the management and retooling of the players.

If sloan wants to coach why not let it be with us? The guy gets the best oit of his team. I remember he went like 41-41 one year with a bunch of misfits and kirilenko as his best player. The guy can coach and I wouldnt put it past him to coach for three or so years. Then he mentors kaleb and kaleb hopefully becomes a great coach

I'm not very interested in Sloan. He wouldn't be a bad hire, but I just don't see much upside. If we go for a veteran coach I'd rather make a run at Mike D'Antoni.
