Would any of you be on board with a plan like this?

    Mathews and #6 for Gay

    Sign Dragic

Draft BPA at #11 (Jones III)

    Aldridge
    Jones III
    Gay
    Batum
    Dragic

That's not a bad starting unit as a retool

I'd slide Hickson at PF and play the big pick off the bench....but Gay would be a nice addition with Nic at the 2. Dragic would be better than anything we have now.

I think realistically that would be the best and quickest way to retool on the fly.

I forgot about Hickson If we retain his Bird rights, then absolutely

    very tempting.

I'd love it to be Matthews + 11, but I would bet that the Grizzers wouldn't touch that at all.

Sure, why not? Seems like we would still have some money left over to go after a center also.

It doesn't work MM. The net on the trade is we absorb $~8M. Probably not enough left over to sign Dragic (Assuming we have $12-16M).
    Concept good, execution bad!

Perry Jones III as a starter? I'd only do that if we were planning to tank for the next draft and keep caproom flexibility, which would mean not trading for Gay or resigning Batum. Which I wouldn't mind.

    Ok, revised

    Matthews and #6 for Gay

    #11 and filler for Lowry

That way the cap doesn't com into play

No to this one. We need more bigs and rebounding.

It's a process. You certainly aren't going to fix this mess in one off season.

I'd do it, but the Blazers would still be in desperate need of a center and with some fairly paltry pickings in free agency to get one. so presumably we'd resign Przybilla and then what? Bring Freeland over and hope he can play and play LaMarcus at the five?

I'd rather pay Nic 10 mil then have Gay at his ridiculous salary, and if Nic goes I don't want Gay as he is way overpaid for what he delivers IMO. MM have you looked at his salary? 16.4 mil next yr, 17.8 mil the following, 18.8 mil after that, no fukkin way

Why not just offer them Nolan Smith and a kick in the nuts if you are going to insult them with a crappy offer for a borderline All-Star guard?

Both are ridiculous. You could nab Harrison Barnes for cheap and lock him to a rookie contract for years to keep salary cap flexibility.

I think a ton of teams in the top 10 would offer their pick straight up for Lowery considering his production and the lack of PGs in the draft. I think it would cost us #6, which hurts but isn't a bad move.

no argument there! I'm just sayin if I had to pick between those choices Nic at 10 mil vs Gay at an avg of 18 mil is a no brainer. Frankly Gay's contract is something of an albatross in this new CBA environment and then having to give up Wes and the 6th pick as well - LMAO no way!
