    4-Wessy

anything else? We have to be pretty careful giving up any of these pieces because after that, there's nothing left.

    S&T Batum
    Matthews
    S&T Hickson???
    Freeland's rights???

I moved Batum down the list because I think many teams would pass on paying him big $$. Teams are more and more worried about staying below the salary cap then ever and Batum has yet to prove he is a legit consistent #2 or even #3 option. I think he will prove that, but its still a big question.

Man, I really have a hard time imagining the owners not overspending. Especially on a guy like Nic.

Forgot about Nic. I didn't include LA because we're not gonna trade him.

But I can totally see TOR throw a ton of cash at Batum.

My opinion is the same as Olshey's. No one is untradable. If some team overpays for LA, then you jump on it

Well yeah sure I’d agree in theory, but LaMarcus is an All-star, so to overpay a team is going to have to send back a superior all-star with more upside then a 26 year old one. Or a pair of lesser all-stars. But the other team is going to have to have enough talent left on their roster to still compete; a team is not going to do that trade to turn into the end of the season Blazers. There are hardly any teams that fit this criteria, sure OKC, Miami, maybe the TWolves if they dealt us both Love and Rubio. But I don’t think a deal happens with those teams.

    Thus LaMarcus is effectively untradeable.

    S&T Batum
    Matthews
    Freeland rights
    2nd rounder
    Claver rights
EWilll, Babbitt, NSmith, S&T Hickson all have zero value
SWilliams, Kurt Thomas have negative value

S&T Batum only has value to a team over the cap, he has zero value to a team under the cap.

I wouldn't say it's likely, but it should be considered (for the right price)

Cap space value in a trade is interesting, I think it’ll be much more valuable during the season around the trade deadline when an average team has greatly underachieved and has finally decided to rebuild and clear contracts for the following season. But right now teams don’t know they have no shot at contending and will want to let the first part of the season play out.

Also at the start of the summer teams like the Bobcats have cap space and are looking to acquire picks or any long term assets for it. Those terrible teams won’t be as interested in using their cap room on veteran free agents, they want guys that will peak years down the road. But at the trade deadline there are very few teams that still have any cap room left and you can often pickup a solid starter that is slightly overpaid AND acquire picks.
