Anyone know of a graph of career PER vs pick no. for players who've played over say 300 games. If not, any way to generate such a graph?

Dave from BlazersEdge suggests that we trade pick #6 for Lowry which I think is a terrible idea. It would be interesting to see quantitatively how he compares.

btw, Lowry has a career PER of 15.9. That includes his 18.9 last year (a contract year).

    I truly hate this idea.

    Dave is quickly losing credibility.

Lowry has shit for value right now. He basically demanded a trade didn't he? I think a mid-lotto pick would be an okay trade, but not the #6.

Part of Dave's logic is that he'd be relatively cheap.

He's not cheap when he costs you the #6 pick.

Dave Edge is a fool for this one.

I watched Dave's video podcast and the thing I took away was that if you wanted to go the conservative route he would have to think long and hard about taking Lowry's proven production vs. what you are likely to get out of say the sixth pick in the draft ... which frankly isn't that hot: Jan Vesely, Ekpe Udoh, Johnny Flynn, Danilo Galinari, Yi Jianlian, Brandon Roy ... That's not a comprehensive list, nor a scientific proof of anything, but it reveals that while there are some definite keepers in that list, on the whole that's not a great hit rate; you're basically lucky if you get a starting quality rotation player.

Personally, I'm more of a go-big-or-go-home kind of guy, so I hope the Blazers keep the pick and swing for the fences, but I'm also realistic about their chances, it's likely to fall short ... but at least they'll be trying to hit home-runs and not little bloopers through the gap.

Once again, Lowry is getting no respect on this forum. He is a damn good PG. He has a solid PER of 19, shoots well from long distance, good assist/TO ratio

I'd give it some consideration if it were Lowry + 14 for 6.

    Maybe.

Maybe he was referring to Lowry's contract which is VERY reasonable.

wrong. It's Dragic that was in a contract year last season, Lowry has two more seasons left at 6M per year. His PER was 20+ before he went down to the bacterial infection.

So to recap... a 20+ PER PG who'll be under contract for 2 more years at Wes Matthews money who turned 26 a month ago would be a terrible swap for the #6 pick??? While there are other options at PG I'd be interested in exploring, the Blazers would be big time winners this offseason if they pulled off Dave's hypothetical swap

He isn't an all star caliber player....

He is a good player...but I don't see POR trading for a good not great player....and both Olshey and Allen basically said that.....

and HOU isn't going to trade Lowry BEFORE they have Dragic resigned....

Agree, but ya think he's worth the #6 pick? I dont.
    Lowry for #11... or... Lowry + #14 for #6

What if we could do Matthews + 6 for Lowry + 14? Is the value gap between Lowry & Matthews less or greater than that of 6 & 14?

Dragic for the simple fact he would only cost us capspace and we keep our picks, plus I like him a little more than Lowry

too much from our end IMO, I think #11 for Lowry is fair, maybe we throw in a 2nd rdr or Nolan or babbit

I'm not sure why everyone is always trying to trade Matthews; I think he may have more value to the team than as a trade asset, unless you just want to trade him to maintain cap space. He is a solid player and good enough to be part of the rotation on a championship team. He epitomizes what we want to be; tough, selfless, hardworking.
