Of the two I would pick Lillard because while he might not end up as solid as Marshall, he has the chance to be super special. Marshall to me equals Andre Miller. Lillard to me has the chance to equal a more dynamic guard like Rose or maybe even Westbrook......or at least versions of them
Pretty much the way I see it as well. One is a safe pick for a non special player and the other has more upside potential.
I'd take Marshall if we had more scoring on our team. But even then, I see Lillard as being more impactful in the current NBA. So many scoring PGs around that you need someone like him for other PGs to guard. I see him becoming a more athletic Curry. Can't pass on a player like that.

Generally I'm boom or bust guy, but there's just something about Marshall that intrigues me. You say Marshall is Andre Miller. I see possibly Jason Kidd--a player who can see the play develop 2 seconds before everyone else and make the pass nobody sees coming. I think he does have a shot to be special.
It's funny how, now that we don't have Roy around, we can finally invest in a scoring PG instead of trading them away because they aren't pass-first. That said, Marshall's reach is kinda tiny; I'd take Lillard on measurements alone because I also buy books based on their covers and cereal based on the cartoon characters on the box.
I chose Lillard but the the thing is Lillard would have to be at#6 while Marshall could be at # 11. The question I am now asking myself after looking at some of these updated mock drafts is who do you choose between Lillard, Beal, and Barnes? If it goes Davis, Robinson, G-Kidd, and Drummond then either Barnes or Beal will be available. I guess there is an outside chance Drummond or G-Kidd drops, but as of right now it looks like we need to choose between Lillard, Beal and Barnes. If we go with Lillard or Barnes then maybe Austin Rivers is available at 11 but I think his measurements now move him in the top 10.
Lillard's jumper and handles were as good as advertised in the combine. Marshall may be a nice passer in college, but lacks a quick first step that he would need to excel as a point in the NBA.
I really wanted to vote for Marshall, I think he's going to be a really nice setup man in the NBA and in a vacuum I think I'd take him, but given the Blazers' dearth of ball-handlers and dribble-drive shot creators I think Lilliard would be capable of having a more immediate impact and his ability to catch and shoot doesn't hurt either in a two man game with LaMarcus. The rub is finding guys that can quickly develop or contribute so you maximize the next 3 or so years of LaMarcus' prime. That said, I'd be happy with either guy, both look like they could be pretty good pros.
Personally, unless he's a top 50 of all time talent, I'm loathe to take a PG at #6. We need a PG, SG, C, and serious bench depth for shooting and rebounding (aka, size). We may want to pick a PF and slide LA to center. With decent PG's available via free agency I hope we wait until #11 to consider a PG, if even so at all. Trade or sign a FA PG and use the draft for shooters and bigs.
I agree with you for the most part, I would take Beal over Lillard. But it could very well be Barnes that is availble. We should go with the 'best availbe player" philosophy that we have ignored in the past. Is Barnes that guy? Do we take him if Beal is gone? He is not a PF C or SG...... The one thing about Lillard is that he is a shooter as well. So he kind of takes the pressure off of getting a SG in the draft. But a good one will still be available.
today's speed/agility/vertical testing will be especially interesting for the Lillard/Marshall comparison

I like those players. The ones that say bring it, I will destroy anyone. So far for me, Lillard, Thomas, White and Harkless are those guys
That's exactly how I see it. Only I think we've got those labels attached to different players. (Hint: the "upside potential" one has the best "pure point" rating in the history of the DX rankings)
I think if you want a player like Lillard, there are dozens playing overseas. Good shooting, low-PG skills players of about 6'-6'3" are pretty dang common. Real PG skills are much rarer.
