So this is not like a mock because are not guessing where players end up, we are just listing the top 11 players. So if players a b d f g when our sixth pick comes, we j ust select player c because they are earliest on the big board. Here is my big board (subject to change) Ansthony Davis Thomas Robinson Beal lillard Drummond MKG Waiters Sulinger Meyers leonard Barns Rivers Honerble mention-aren't moultire, lamb, Ross
So far a lot of love for a Syracuse player and an American born white center. Interesting to see if that trend continues. Also where MKG falls on peoples draft boards. So far high, medium and low on the first three. This is a fun thread. Always great to see how different fans rank different players
1. Anthony Davis 2. Bradley Beal 3. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist 4. Thomas Robinson 5. Damian Lillard 6. Jared Sullinger 7. John Henson 8. Dion Waiters 9. Draymond Green 10. Royce White 11. Tyler Zeller No Andre Drummond or Harrison Barns in my top 11.
1. Anthony Davis 2. Thomas Robinson 3. MKG 4 .Bradley Beal 5. Damian Lillard 6. Jared Sullinger 7. John Henson 8. Dion Waiters 9. Drummond 10. Royce White 11. Tyler Zeller
That always seems to happen as guys get mentioned about us. Same way everyone began nutting about Dragic, all seemingly at the same time. If it is mentioned we are high on Moultrie, he'll show up more and more.
1. Anthony Davis 2. Thomas Robinson 3. Bradley Beal 4. Damian Lillard 5. Harrison Barnes 6. MKG 7. Andre Drummond 8. Terrence Jones 9. Dion Waiters 10. Austin Rivers
1 Robinson - Will be the best player in 5 years, a team will be able to run their offense through him 2 Davis - He won't be as good offensively as Robinson but better defensively 3 Rivers - He has all the intangibles like toughness and heart to go along with top level skills 4 Lillard - He is the prototypical PG in the new NBA. Good quickness and good outside shooter 5 Barnes - He will be solid on both sides of the court, he will be a good 2nd or 3rd option 6 Beal - Really good form on his shot but didn't get top level results last year. Don't think he can create as well as Rivers 7 MKG - Defensive stud but will be lacking in offense so that will hold him back, I just really see him becoming a Gerald Wallace type player and will excel on a team with shooters 8 PJIII - I think he is starting to get the fact that he needs to be more aggressive, he has crazy size and athletic ability and he will come around mentally 9. Jeff Taylor - He is a guy who has gotten better every year and will continue to get better. Good shooter and athlete that will play even better in the NBA 10. Royce White - He is the somewhat undersized PF from this class that will do the dirty work and has good bball IQ. Maybe borderline all-star level but a good player to have that does a lot of things good but not really great at anything
-Anthony Davis -Thomas Robinson -Bradley Beal -MKG -Andre Drummond -Harrison Barnes -Kendall Marshall -Damian Lillard -Jared Sullinger -Meyers Leonard -Perry Jones lll -Terrence Jones -John Henson -Austin Rivers -Tyler Zeller
Interesting that there are many different versions. -Anthony Davis (unanimous) -Thomas Robinson (like his energy) -MKG (like his leadership and hope the rest will develop) -Andre Drummond (size matters) -Damian Lillard (best PG and scorer in one package) -Bradley Beal (not a believer yet) -Perry Jones lll (based on up side) -Austin Rivers (can he play the team game?) -Harrison Barnes (reminds me of Martell too much) -Kendall Marshall (love his passing, not convinced he can play D) -Meyers Leonard (strong and athletic with touch, could he be a success) -Moultrie -White
Lillard as the 4th or 5th best player in this draft? lol, you guys are insane..... "This time we got him, we got our future franchise PG!!!" "Oh shit...."
Back it up. Lead the nation in scoring, top 5 in fouls drawn, 41% for threes, NBA body, 24.5 pts on 15.5 attempts (very efficient). Show me who belongs above him that has numbers like that.
1) Thomas Robinson (Kansas players seemingly are always at least serviceable in the NBA, polished, T-Rob has a good frame, polished game, rebounds, works hard - look what he did vs. Kentucky) 2) Anthony Davis (Think he is somewhat overrated. Great defender, not sure I trust someone with a unibrow though.) 3) Andre Drummond (Big, athletic, talented. Needs to work hard, but no matter what his defense and size will always be there, unlike thabeet, doesn't have a horrendous frame) 4) Barnes (Least bust potential in the draft IMO, solid #3 option, maybe #2. Isn't overly athletic, doesn't wow you, but he can certainly shoot. Also, not a great dribbler and not aggressive enough - and not sure he realizes that.) 5) Lillard (Truthfully, I probably could have put him higher, just because of what I've been hearing from reports - but I'd need to see it first hand first. Talented scorer, elite first step, great athleticism, great court vision ***supposedly***) 6) MKG (Jack of all trades, solid on D, not so sure I believe that he is the next greatest wing defender or anything as I believe Davis really helped that team cover some major defensive flaws, has a weird hitch in his shot, but has heart AND talent, something that cannot be taught. He will be alright. Wes Matthews has heart, but not the talent this guy possesses. Could be a special player if he ever fixes that J.) 7) Ross (great size, length, athleticism, smart with the ball, can create for himself) 8) Beal (Didn't shoot overly well, but really came on at the end of the year. Honestly, he could be much higher, but it really depends on what a team is looking for. If you need an all around SG, this is probably your guy. If you need an elite scorer Ross, Waiters, Rivers are probably better at pure scoring ability - being able to get inside as well as shoot midrange and three.) 9) Perry Jones (Sounds like he understands he needs to be more aggressive, not sure how I feel about him thinking he needs to play similar to KD, but if the shot is there, would be a VERY interesting player to have on your team. Athleticism for days.) 10) Sullinger (Polished post game. Big body. Slow. Not overly athletic. Smart.) 11) Waiters (This could really go to about 4 players, Waiters, Zeller, Leonard, Terrence Jones, Marshall, Moultrie - Went with Waiters because although he is a Syracuse guy *beware* I watched a few of his games and the dude can flat out BALL with the rock. Probably the best pure scorer. Seems to know people think he has attitude issues, but whatever. Jones would probably be second at this spot for me, with Marshall last - because he is so unathletic and won't be able to defend.
Honestly, he played in the Big Sky, but him opting to play in the combine and still torching people shows me that it wasn't just the competition and that he was, in fact, very talented despite the league he played in.
All those numbers against the likes of basketball powerhouses like Sacramento State, Eastern Washington, Montana and Portland State.... How about these numbers: 4-17/3-10 3pt 14pts 3 boards 3 assists in loss to Cal (PAc 10, 24-16, 1st round loss to Sth Florida) 5-12/1-4 3pt 15pts 10 boards 2 asst/3 TO's in a loss to BYU (WCC 26-9, 2nd round loss in tourney) vs LMU in conference tourney 6-17/1-9 3pt 27pts 6 rbds 2 asst 5 turnovers This isn't the 2nd coming of Russell Westbrook or Derrick Rose....This is a shooting guard in a PG body, who when faced with better competition underperfomed and "suddenly" looked a lot more pedestrian....you'd be lucky to get Mo Williams....
So you think no player that comes from a small school should be a top 10 draft pick. They should all come from from the "big schools". If there was ever going to be a guy drafted from a small school in the top 6 Lillard has all the game and stats to warrant it. There are always guys from small schools that end up being better then a lot of players drafted in the top 10. From just the last few years both Faried and Milsap came from small schools and are in the top 10 of their respective classes. I don't think Portland should pass on the best player available just because he went to a small school. Just like they shouldn't take a PG if there is a better player available.
He won't be the BPA at #6 though..... Fans here just like to overreach\lust for a PG b\c this team's recent history has been so pathetic in regards to that position.... What if Marquis Teague didn't play for UK and instead went to Weber State...and then stayed there for three years...I bet his stats would look pretty damm good as well and people would be clamoring for him at #6....I think he will be a better PG in the NBA than Lillard will... and you don't need to waste the 6th pick on him....
