Rex is pretty explosive as well.
I'm sorry but if it comes down to Drummond v. Lillard, I'm taking Damian 10 times out of 10. Have we not learned our lesson from taking Oden and other players? Lillard has the drive and work ethic of Matthews. The kid is a gym rat and is exactly the type of scoring option we need at the PG position. The characteristics of a great NBA PG today isn't so much being an elite passer (Nash, Paul) as it is about being able to create your own offense, thus relaxing the defense on others and creating offense this way (Rose, Westbrook, etc.) I'm not saying Lillard will be Rose or Russell, but he fits that mold of a PG and even if he turns out to be Rose/Westbrook-Lite, the Blazers finally have a serviceable PG, and one that can relax the D on LA with his range. I'll take heart over height any day.
Short arms and relative lack of strength to finish in traffic I think are probably why he didnt translate that dunking to the NBA.
Also seems to lack a certain level of body control and was more of a two foot leaper. Ha, just looked through his field goals over the last three years and he had 10 or so dunks his 2nd year in Portland but only 2 or 3 since he's been with Toronto.
Haven't been analyzing clips of Lillard like you guys but no way in hell is he in a league with Rose. I watched a lot of Bayless in college and I would definitively say he doesn't look that explosive either. I'd compare his athleticism more to Irving, Jrue Holiday, maybe a younger Gilbert Arenas. Certainly good but less explosiveness and more of a smooth/strength combination.
Yup. Lillard won't be the focal point of the opponents defense like he was in college. I imagine the defensive philosophy against Weber State this year was deny penetration by doubling up top. With Alridge and Batum, there's no way that Lillard will be the focal point of defenses against us.
I would have to agree with you, he is definitely not D-Rose athletic, Derrick is a completely different breed. Those are definitely fair comparisons, and I'd say from what I've seen of Kyrie, Lillard is pretty similar athleticism-wise. It'll be interesting to see what we hear about him after his workout with POR.
Jonathan Givony @DraftExpress NBA Combine athletic testing results released:http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre...raft=0&pos=0&source=NBA Draft Combine&sort=12
RaptorsPR @RaptorsPR Seven participants for #Raptors Tues. #NBA draft workout: K. Marshall, G - UNC; D. Joseph, G - Oregon; D. Lillard, G - Weber St.; T. Ross, F - Wash.; H. Thompson, F - G'town; H. Sims, C - G'town; K. O'Quinn, C - Norfolk St.
Marquis Teague is gonna be a steal Seeing the combine results, I am now hoping for a pick in the 20's to get him and use our others on bigs or a SG
couple things that stood out to me. Kendall Marshall actually slightly faster that Lillard in the sprint but a lot slower in the agility drill. Myles Plumlee incredibly fast time in the agility drill (Drummond too), beat many if not most of the guards!
I believe that's lane agility, and most of the big men do well because it's one step for them. Plumlee would be a decent pick in the second round
Jonathan Givony @DraftExpress Harrison Barnes jumped 38 inches flat-footed. That's by far the best result this year and the 4th best ever in our DB:
not necessarily, compare some of the other bigs times. Sullinger was simply awful in the agility and sprint times. Plumlee was Top 5 of all tested, only a few guards beat him
