Would you trade LA to the Bobcats for a package including the #2 pick?

  1. Yes, I'd do it! Deep draft, let's strip this sucker down and build from the ground up

We're all getting a little draft-crazy, so I thought I'd see HOW draft-crazy. Crazy enough to trade Aldridge to get the #2 (without giving up the other 2 picks)? Because supposedly Charlotte is shopping that pick but asking a lot. Well, Aldridge fits "a lot".

No interest from me. You end up with what, Robinson there, and hope he can become as good as Aldridge?

Not sure how "Depends what the rest of the deal is" shouldn't get every vote

Suppose we could also trade the #6 and #11 for the #4. That would give us Robinson and Beal or MKG. But then again, essentially we'd be trading Aldridge for Robinson, which doesn't seem wise.

Consider how much Charlotte can offer. Not much. What else would be enough to sway you?

+1 on this! I think some of us are losing it with draft overload - I would suggest drinking a few "drafts" to mellow out and regain perspective

Well... yeah. Except, supposing it was straight up: you'd also get a bunch of cap space. (But who'd want to sign with a team that just traded their only good player?)

No, LA has been what was expect if not more and is in his prime. As mentioned, you could hope to draft a player who will eventually turn out to be an LA.

Also (and just playing devil's advocate here) you might want to do it if:
    * you didn't like Aldridge as our best player (because of style of play required, underwhelming rebounding or whatever)
    * you didn't think we'll be good in LA's "window"
    * you're super-worried about his heart problems and hip surgery
    * you're mad about that thing he said about teaming up with D-Will in Dallas

Charlotte has nothing else to give besides the #2 to make it worth considering.

I wouldn't trade LMA for the 1 so no way in hell ud trade him for a lesser player then Davis.

#2, Allowing us to swap picks with them next year, Biyombo, Henderson

Assuming we can sign Dragic, Hawes and bring Freeland and Claver over, trade Matthews for a pick in the 20's (PJ 3, Harkless, Taylor, White), that would give us, if I were GM...

    Dragic/#11 Marshall
    Batum/Henderson/Williams
    #6 Barnes/Babbitt/ PJ III
    #2 Robinson/Freeland
    Hawes/Biyombo

    Smith
    Wrotten
    Claver

We would also have a high lottery spot next year as well, say #3 for argument sake, where we could take someone like Muhammad or Noel

I honestly think that gives us better overall talent, even though we would struggle with youth at first

Interesting idea, but a disaster on the business side of Trail Blazer land. Season tickets and sponsorship sales would take a huge hit.

I dont usually post much...and I have really enjoyed the last couple weeks of draft talk. But this a terrible idea... This poll should be deleted. What could the bobcats add in a deal?

With his health concerns and salary, the Bobcats would never bite.

It depends on the rest of the deal, of course.

Aldridge is not going to carry this team to a title. That's no knock on him, but he cannot do it himself. The roster has so little talent that by the time we can re-stock the cupboard, he'll be a couple of years older and a few tens of millions of dollars richer. And we'll have been one of the worst teams in the NBA in spite of his salary.

I love Aldridge as a Blazer, but I'd rather have three guys who might turn out to be at his level (who are all on rookie deals) than one who is at his level (and is making what he's making) given the rest of the roster.

I've been saying that this roster needs a rebuild, not a re-tool.

The talent pool on this team is as weak as it's ever been.

You can build around Robinson and this move would also allow you to bring in much needed talent (Waiters? Leonard? Barnes?) and maneuver your cap to make a serious, serious run at Harden.

That's a WHOLE lot there. If you can basically get two top-5 picks for one fringe all-star, I think you have to do it. Even if it gets us our pick back for next year (since we would of course be very bad this season), you consider it depending on what other prospects you receive.

But just for the #2 and some of the players on their team, no.
