You knew he'd throw a no-no eventually. He's just too fucking steady. Obviously, you cant get better than this. His price just went uuu..... Oh wait, thanks management for getting straight and signing The Kid!
A Giant throws a perfect game, and Dodgers are no hit all in the span of about a week!? :MARIS61::MARIS61::MARIS61::MARIS61::MARIS61::MARIS61::MARIS61::MARIS61::MARIS61:
14 K's - ties for the most K's in a perfect game! That's more than half of the batters! Some are calling it one of the most dominant pitching performances ever.
He did give up two very long flies, homeruns in some parks, but Melky caught one at the wall and Blanco made an insane play to get into tripples alley and rob someone on the warning track. Go Cainer though!
Absolutely. But those types of close plays happen in every no-hitter/perfect game. And a helluva lotta guys were still missing the ball (14 K's to tie the record in a perfect game), though.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/tom_verducci/06/14/no.hitter.craze/index.html Is the no-hitter becoming so common that it's losing its luster? Over the past three seasons, no-hitters are about as common as your cable bill: they come almost once a month. The perfect game by Matt Cain Wednesday in San Francisco was the 14th no-hitter in the past 2 1/3 seasons. Back at the start of May, when Jered Weaver threw the second no-hitter of this season, I wrote, "At the rate we're going these past three years, you can expect three or four more no-hitters before the season is over." I didn't expect we would get three more just within a 13-day span this month.
No-hitters are becoming more common, it seems. But there have only been 22 perfect games, so I'd still say it was a pretty ridiculous performance. Has a pitcher ever strick out a higher percentage of hitters he faced when pitching a complete game? I know Cain's would only tie for best, at best? But still curious.
not sure what you are asking, but clemens struck out 20 twice, and kerry wood did it once in a perfect game he is tied with koufax who also had 14 in his
How many batters did Clemens and Wood face? I'm asking: so Cain struck what 14/27, so did Koufax. What % did Clemens and Wood strike out?
