5-foot-11, 199-pound outside linebacker George Vinson (Damascus, Md.) committed Thursday to play for Buffalo, multiple sources report. Delaware, Temple, Old Dominion, Colgate, Kent State, Stony Brook and Bryant also extended scholarship offers to the rising senior defender. Wide receiver Kyvaune Brammer (Brooklyn, N.Y./Tech) is Buffalo's other verbal.
Kilgore (Texas) Junior College defensive tackle DeAngelo Brooks has become the fourth Class of 2013 verbal for Louisiana Tech, according to the Shreveport Times. "I've known [Tech assistant] coach [Stan] Eggen since my senior year of high school and we have a great relationship," Brooks said. "It spoke to me to make a choice." Brooks attended Airline High School (Bossier City, La.) before Kilgore, where he was named the Times All-City Athlete of the Year. The 6-foot-1, 300-pounder was a two-time state champion wrestler in addition to his accomplishments on the gridiron.
Luke Jackson (LaPlace, La./St. Charles Catholic), a 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect, has committed to the Green Wave, the Times-Picayune reports. "I like the place, it's really nice," Jackson said. "Their facilities are really nice. That was the first time I've been in them. It's going to be a great education for me and I think the football team is going to get a lot better and I'm hoping to make it better." Louisiana-Monroe, North Texas and Southern Methodist also recruited the defensive end/outside linebacker who registered 45 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 16 sacks and one interception last season. Jackson is the seventh 2013 pledge for Tulane. Six of the seven players are from Louisiana.
Kris White (Groveland, Fla./South Lake), a 6-foot-1, 210-pound prospect, has pledged to continue his career with Kent State, according to the Daily Commerical. He's graded as a two-star quarterback by ESPN but was recruited as a running back or an athlete by the Golden Flashes. "My best friend from South Lake -- (2012 signee) James Brooks -- goes to Kent State," White said. "Plus, my father, who helped me make this decision is very happy with Kent State because he is from that area of Ohio. I'm also going to pursuing a career in sports medicine and Kent State has an excellent medical program. There too many positives that go along with going to Kent State." Iowa State, Temple, Memphis, Marshall and Middle Tennessee also extended scholarship offers to White, who posted a combine-verified 4.76 40-yard dash, 4.29 20-yard shuttle and 31-inch vertical prior to his junior year. White is the fourth 2013 commitment for Kent State.
The Demon Deacons did not have a single commitment entering June. According to multiple sources, Wake Forest pulled in three more players on Thursday, bringing their 2013 class tally to nine. High two-star tight end Brendan O'Neil (Cambridge, Mass./Buckingham Browne & Nichols), 6-foot-4, 230-pounds, chose Wake over scholarship offers from UConn, UMass and Temple. Boston College, Duke and Syracuse showed interest. BB&N coach John Papas told the Boston Herald, “He liked the complete package of athletics and academics that Wake Forest offered. Just visited last week and really liked the coaching staff.” O'Neil could be catching passes in the future from quarterback Michael Radford (Charlotte, N.C./Country Day), who made the call for Wake Forest. According to Rivals.com, he held offers from Marshall, Charlotte and Presbyterian. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder posted an electronically-timed 4.86 40-yard dash, 4.42 20-yard shuttle and 28.5-vertical before his junior season. Also committing Thursday night, according to Rivals, was linebacker / defensive end Ali Lamot (Mebane, N.C./Eastern Alamance). Old Dominion had offered the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder.
