A ray of hope. However, it'll cut down on 50% of the Heat free throws. Then again, they take this up every year and the result is the same- stars can flop and SHALL be rewarded for it. Were it up to me, all flops will result in a one game suspension. That will end it.
I don't know what you can do... Call a technical for "trickery?" Fine "trickery"? How about this.... the NBA will run a spot in primetime with the offending play and then photoshopping a tutu on you. No NBA player wants their manhood questioned.
Love the idea of reviewing flops after the game. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8069250/nba-weighs-retroactive-penalties-floppers
I feel like a fine much like a technical (which is a $1000 per T right?) and a point system where say each "flop" garners a point and after say 16 points you get suspended for a game. That seems fair.
Or just count flops as a technical. No one cares about the $1k fine, but flying toward those automatic suspensions would get their attention. Imagine getting hit with a dozen technicals after the game!
It'd be nice but would slow the pace of the game too much to ever be considered. Maybe give coaches a red flag much like the NFL and if the coach feels it was a bad call they can challenge it knowing that if they lose they'd lose a timeout etc. Of course there'd have to be a limit on how many times a coach can challenge a charge/play.
