    Whatttt? I took classes with drapela. He was a fantaatic science teacher. Best science teacher I had at osu. Dude seemed to actually care if his students did well.

    Yup, I took chem from him too. Think I got like an A-....it was awesome. But yea, dirty.

    Sounds like arguments get too personal at OSU. He should get a lawyer. Meanwhile, we have found the only two students in the U.S. who like chemistry.

    Teaching almost never gets a prof tenure...guessing that his publications weren't too impressive and that's what got him dissed. The more prestigious peer reviewed publications, the better and his controversial views probably didn't lend itself to many peer reviewed publications.

    Edit: not saying anyone of the above is right, it's just the way of the prof world.

    Edit #2: I loved chemistry. Loved it. Anyone else here survive p. chem?

    In high school I won the Southern California Edison (that's the electricity utility) student of the year for chemistry. Never took it again, despite decades upon untold decades of professional studenthood.
