It is when you watch them ACTUALLY play...That isn't conjecture...that is REALITY....

You know it is one thing to be all over Lillard's jock b\c the team needs a PG, I get that...or b\c he hit every shot in an edited one on none workout video or a highlight mix tape vs powerhouses like Texas-Arlington...fine...but then to push it to the next level and compare him in ANY way as a player...not in measurements, but as a player...to Westbrook and Rose is beyond ridiculous....

I get it...you got a man crush on the guy...not the 1st time you have done this, probably won't be the last....

Obviously I don't like the guy...I think he is being overhyped by a weak PG crop,, the lack of PG in POR, and his agent's shrewd move to work him out solo and protect him from being exposed in any workouts....

We won't know until he actually plays in the NBA who was more right than the other, I seriously hope POR does not take him, but if they do I'll hope he succeeds and becomes worthy of the #6 pick, b\c if he doesn't then POR just fucked themselves in the draft...AGAIN....

    I don't like that either....

But I do like Waiters better as a SG prospect than I like Lillard as a SG that we will try and turn into a PG ala E-Will and Nolan Smith....

Lillard is so much more Robert Pack than he is Westbrook.

Lets not get carried away with his ceiling. He is 22 and will have to change his game considerably in the NBA. He's going to have to get used to about 1/2 of the shots, if that.

Pack's career per 36 numbers are 15.5 /8.0/3.5. PER of 15.0 for his career.

Best year was Washington playing 35.0 per game. Averaged 18.1/7.8/4.3 19.3 PER

And Pack was not near the shooter Lillard is

You're not really worth debating with. You take strawman to the max.

You brought up Westbrook and Rose and said that he doesn't come close to the athlete that those guys are. I brought factual numbers to the table from pre-draft measurements. I never said that Lillard is going to be as good as Rose, or Westbrook. Thats called a strawman, young man.

Now back to flinging untruth's about Lillard like his performances against NCAA tournament caliber teams and that he's "not athletic", to the wall hoping they stick.

You've been beating that same dead horse into the ground for awhile now.

If Robert Pack could ever hit a jumpshot, that would be the day...

untruth's about his performances? He generally DID perform weakly against teams from better conferences and I even listed specific examples....

The combine measurements don't mean shit in terms of comparing players...I am sure you could find a lot of players whose measureables were close to what Westbrook or Rose did, or even better...who NEVER EVEN MADE THE NBA....That isn't a fucking strawman...that is cold hard reality...You are wishing...hoping that those numbers translate into that type of player....Good GM's & scouts however don't draft guys on hopes and wishes...bad ones do....

I don't understand how some of you guys can feel so strongly about these players one way or the other. There are so many variables involved in evaluating them, that without a complete scouting profile (stats, gametapes, mental makeup, etc, etc), one can't really have that strong convictions about anyone. Cool for discussion though.

The only reason I defense Lillard so hard is because some hate on him so hard, it's only fair. It's not like I think he's a lock for ROY or anything. I just think he'll be a good PG.

Exactly. They need to start doing league-wide firings and start filling these jobs with Blaze01 and Fez Hammersticks.

Ha, can you imagine the indecisiveness in a fez led draft room?

Trade all players currently on team for as many lottery picks as possible

Maybe so but I'd always make the right decision! That's all that matters.

    Faried over Smith
    Waiters over Lillard

    Boom.

That would be pretty fun actually.

I just want a defined plan going into the draft. And I want us to do whatever it takes to get the guys we want. Say what you want about KP, but he did that, and he did it with flair. The drafts from 06-08 when we were in the lottery were seriously fun to follow.

Ha, you always act like you led the one man march for Faried over Smith.
