I'd love Nash here. Just the basketball IQ upgrade and being around as an influence would be worth it. I don't give a shit about future draft positioning because after this year, we shouldn't be worrying about how bad we could be since we have two lotto picks + cap space + young talent. Unless we're the worst team in the league, shouldn't even worry about "building through the draft" anymore. It can't be done unless you're getting a top 3 pick as I've repeatedly said.

I think its just his kind of city with the Timbers Army, NW vibe, and strangeness.

Wouldn't give him a big contract at all though.

Mrs hcp isn't her own race, she's just had enough sex to start her own race. so I wouldn't consider it racism.

Greg Oden started it. Maybe if POR isn't for young, rich, black guys....middle-aged, long-haired white guys who enjoy soccer R Us!

BTW, who would've put money down in 2000 that Steve Nash would have a longer career than Allen Iverson?

MM, I'm not sure whether to be impressed or horrified that you have that alphabetized list at your beck and call.

Edit: And, if you're in VA, the DMV would add "haji" to that list, as well.

I did swype on my other phone. Was typing racism, and tacos came up as autocorrect until I swyped down to the m. No joke.

Who's racist now? Seems we're pushed that way by Corporate America!

I've been thinking about pulling back my devotion and not watching as many games or posting as much, esp since it will be tough to beat OKC and pretty impossible to beat Miami for the next 5 years. BUT if we get Nash, I'm back in. I'll watch every damn game. It would be fun.

Of course, Nash would instantly make us better short term. I mean, seriously, look at the flaming bag of crap we had running our offense last season. It would also make the team fun to watch. But most importantly, it would teach our young guys what it's like to run an offense with lots of player and ball movement. And that alone would be worth the price. He'd also be a terrific mentor for any young PG we draft. The only other better PG available is Deron Williams and I'm pretty sure Portland isn't on his "short list".

Yeah, I know he's old, but he's still damn good. The last two seasons, he's posted AST% of 53.15 and 53.11 - the two highest of his career and the 7th and 8th highest in the entire history of the NBA. He's still a PER > 20 player, had a TS% of .625 and has averaged 11.0, 11.4 and 10.7 APG over the last three seasons.

Sure, his numbers are down a little (but surprisingly little) from his back-to-back MVP seasons, but the decline has been very gradual. Probably because he's a player who has always relied more on his brain than his athleticism.

Hire Jerry Sloan and sign Steve Nash. Great entertainment watching them. Either we win big or they drive each other crazy.

Either way, I say we'd be tough, young but tough. Depending who we draft and how it plays out, it wouldn't be a stretch to slide into the playoffs at 7-8, and make a very formidable team.
