The post you quoted didn't seem to make it an issue, just compared him to a player of a similar height

I'm not dead set on drafting Lillard, but when interviewed, he definitely comes across as an intelligent, thoughtful and confident, driven guy. From the little bit I've heard from him, I can picture him being a solid leader for a team... almost Brandon Roy-esque.
And my point had nothing really to do with him being too short, just pointing out that Hawkins had very similar style, size and charisma as Beal. Beal appears to be a much better rebounder though.
I've thought that, but didn't want to make that leap. But the guy is obviously not only a talented basketball player, he is a high-character guy. I'm not saying he's the only option to pick at #6, but we need someone to come in and be a leader on this team. We don't have that right now. Brandon Roy came in and did that as a rookie. And I think Lillard could come in and be a leader as a rookie (maybe not from day one, but I could see it happening during the season), whether or not he's the most talented player on the floor.
My point was, height IS an issue if you can't get your shot off. Ray Allen may be the same height as Beal, but he's also one of the best shooters in the league at curling off a screen and getting his shot off before the defender knows what hit him.
Yes. We are sorely lacking that leader. If Drummond, Lillard and Waiters are evaluated roughly equal for talent and potential, I'd take Lillard every time for that leadership quality he appears to posses.
The #UtahJazz haven't lost interest in moving up in the NBA draft and have continued to talk to teams today. ... http://sulia.com/c/utah…
The Rockets can't be the only team trying to get into the top five, so why are they the only one we keep hearing about?
Their GM is doing what he's paid to do but this is getting annoying. We'll give you some mid-first and a disgruntled Kyle Lowry for your #5 pick. GTFO with that, Houston!
I like the Hawkins comparison, although Hawkins was a proven scorer at Bradley, and was also an elite shooter the day he stepped into the NBA. The primary differences are the rebounding, as you noted, and I also think Beal has the ability to create his own offense a bit better. The trade-off is that Hawk was a career 40% 3pt shooter in the NBA, so he didn't need to create his own offense so long as Payton could drive and dish.
But height SHOULD be an issue, because if you aren't "directly comparing the two" they both have completely different games. Beal will not be sent around a screen, double screen, pin down screen - like Ray Allen. He will be a "legit #1 or #2" option that can shoot as well as get his shot off the dribble. If you're coming off screens, height factors in a lot less than if you're trying to take your man off the bounce.

Ouch. Apparently if the Warriors or Raptors had Drummond available to them they'd pass. Seems like Detroit is the only team in the top-10 who really want him.
