It's probably just my homerism already coming out in anticipation of Lillard being a Blazer, but I'm getting extremely hyped about him.. I feel so optimistic!
I don't think they have a chance; Kyle Lowry/#16 is about as good as they'd to put on the table and that was quickly rejected.
Thomas Robinson on draft uncertainty: “It’s getting to the point where your agent is confused. If they’re confused, just imagine how I feel
Jason Quick: Blazers GM Olshey on eve of NBA Draft reiterated keeping pick 6 & 11: "What we can net back just isn't enough to justify moving the picks
Ill tell u what @Kendall Marshall is: of all the Draft-eligible kids, he's the only 1 on Twitter who knows how to spell and punctuate
I doubt he'll ever be the best player on a championship team, but at six I think you're getting yourself a defensive ace who might someday be a slightly better version of Andre Iguodala (minus some of the playmaking). That's not a bad get for what is looking more and more like the start of third tier of a draft.
This'll go down as a BFW special...I think the kid could end up better than Iguodala and just short of Pippen. But even if he's "just" Iggy, that's awesome at 6. Couple that with Batum and a ballhawking PG and there's literally no backcourt that would be able to torch us anymore. EDIT: Hadn't meant to copy Nik's before I posted. But I agree.
TBH, Iggy without the playmaking isn't that great. But I don't really think that's a good description of his game.
MKG's offensive game is lacking and raw (pretty much all-hustle/score in the paint) and his shooting mechanics are not very good. Go watch draftexpress' video on him. Those mechanics are just really bad. It's nice that he plays hard and is a good defender, but at 6 I want a guy that has a chance to be a star. I don't think MKG is ever a star with the offensive game he has.
I've said it a few times. I dont want MKG either. I love his heart and desire to win at all costs, but dont think he has the skills to do it.
I gots myself a plan to help me enjoy the Blazers draft tomorrow. Try to follow because I'm not sure how to word this I have decided to tier the players in a different way. Tier 1 would be guys I would be ok with if we only ended up picking 1 player. Tier two are guys I would be ok with if we pick two players. Tier 3 is three players. Tier 4 are guys that need at least 4 of them to make me happy. Tier 2 guys have to have two guys in their tier, or add another from tier 3 or tier 4. So, here goes, in no particular order Tier 1 Davis Beal Robinson all star player and alpha male 25 or under Tier 2 Barnes Lillard MKG Drummond Ross All star or near all star player 26 or under Tier 3 Lamb Harkless Rivers White T. Jones Henson Moultrie Wroten Jones III Near all star player 28 or under Tier 4 The rest
That's not a bad way of looking at things. The only thing that would spoil my day is a Rivers/Leonard or Rivers/Zeller draft using 6 and 11
