I'd rather see baseball in Lents or the close to the intersection of I-5 & I-205. Why the hell do I want to drive 40 minutes to Hillsboro for an "A" league game?
I heard Lents came close to getting a baseball team. First Beaverton, then Lents and out of no where Hillsboro . . . without knowing the politics, I guess Hillsboro was the only city that could pony up some money to get a team.
I'll go out on a limb and guess that Intel had something to do with this, at least via taxes, if not outright donations.
Since it's tweet day: Tobias Read @tobiasread Happy for Hillsboro's success at bringing baseball to town. Wish we could have done it in Beaverton
They pay taxes through their employees, and as I said, also through donations. Go back to watching sagebrush grow in LaBarge, or LuPine, or whatever it is.
Lents and Beaverton were close to getting a triple-A team. Hillsboro got a short-season single-A team. barfo
