He's available... Yes, I know, we have a bunch of young guards. But Albicy won Defensive Player of the Year in the French League. He was starting PG of the team that finished top of the league. He was defensive player of the year. He was MVP of the 2010 World U-20 Championships (France won Gold). He's "the player to watch in Basketball right now". Downside: he's short (like Isaiah Thomas short) but not athletic. Not a great scorer. Upside: great at two things we lack at the PG spot: actually being a PG (he's pass first) and defense. Plus, he's Nic's buddy!
1. The Spurs picked up his option. 2. We have players who shoot the three and are ineffective on defense.
There's also this: Code: Free Throw Attempts Per Possession Name Team League FTA/Pos Jared Cunningham Oregon State NCAA 0.47 Tu Holloway Xavier NCAA 0.47 Tony Wroten Washington NCAA 0.44 Kostas Sloukas Olympiakos GREECE 0.43 Damian Lillard Weber State NCAA 0.42 Austin Rivers Duke NCAA 0.38 Andrew Albicy Gravelines FRANCE 0.36 Bradley Beal Florida NCAA 0.36
Winning a defensive player of the year award in a European national league is akin to winning the Tallest Little Person (female division) award. Ed O.
being short, i question his ability to keep his high level of defense in the nba and thats the only thing he is good at
Makes you wonder how he was MVP of the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS for his age group two years ago. All they must care about is defense.

Plus: he's a film star!

all im saying is that at 5'10", his defense will not play quite as well in the nba, and that apparently is his calling card
Seems like signing Tu Holloway is the better undrafted option? Plus, he isn't tied to a contract in Europe yet.
If he wasn't a gunner, like all our other guards, yes. Albicy does things the others don't, doesn't shoot much, and yet STILL draws fouls. Neither is Albicy. As I made clear in the first post in this thread. Oh, and don't forget this little nugget about Holloway:
Good, true. Athletic? Probably not true. The French League is one of the more athletic in the world. And there are a ton of athletes in college who can't make it in the NBA, yet go to Europe. James "Flight" White, for one. A lot of the PGs in France are American.
