Jesus.... Just looked. Green is still just 26. Been hearing that name for years. I shouldn't be surprised he's 26, but still a little surprising.

For reference, isn't Chris Johnson 27 or so...?

The Wolves are preparing a package for Pau Gasol, per Stein.

The Raptors will likely amnesty Calderon; Calangelo to meet with Nash in NYC with an offer of $12m/per.

    PG: Rubio/Calderon
    C: Gasol

    The Spanish Armada?

Re: Now what? i.e. Free Agency

If it looks unlikely that we'll add a big name in free agency, I wonder if we'll continue with "asset acquisition", and either help another team clear cap room, or get below the luxury tax, and take a salary off of their hands for a minor asset.
Again, this is only if we strike out on possibilities.
Maybe you take on Petro and Farmar from Brooklyn to give them an addition 7.75 in space, in exchange for their pick, Houston's pick, something along those lines.
Take on Vince Carter, and get the rights to Jared Cunningham from Dallas?
Beno Udrih and the rights to...I dunno, Tobias Harris, Ekpeh Udoh, Larry Sanders
    Salmons and Tyreke Evans.
    Calderon and..ed davis?
    Devin Harris and....
Will Houston find a take for Scola? Would they pay to move him, with 20 other PFs on the roster?

I dunno, just a thought, if actual effective acquisitions are unlikely, I wonder if cap space is best spent adding small pieces at a price.

Re: Now what? i.e. Free Agency

Depending on how serious we are about sucking this year and building around 22-year-olds...

Trade LMA to LA, Gasol to MIN, Derrick Williams and Wes Johnson and the MIN and LAL 2014 & 2016 (or 2018) draft picks to us. Or LMA to HOU, Scola to LA, Gasol to MIN and DWill/Johnson/Terrence Jones/MIN 2014/16 come back to us.

Toxic, front-loaded (but small) offer to Jeremy Evans of Utah. Something like 3/10, but signing bonus and loaded like Wes' was to where Miller has to pay ~4.5M cash on July 15 or he loses him.

If you want to kick the tires on Ilyasova or Hawes, fine...I'm not expecting that anything less than a massive overpay will get them, but you can try. Match Batum on anything less than 11M per.

See if SAC would swap Jimmer for Nolan and cash. Sign Henry Sims to a 2yr, min-guaranteed Pendergraph special. And see what SAS wants for Blair.

    Lillard/Jimmer
    Wes/EWill/Barton
    Batum/Babbitt/W.Johnson
    D.Williams/(T.Jones? Blair?)/Evans
Leonard/Thomas/Sims with either Hawes or Ilyasova (or neither) and buckets of cap room.

Suckfest this year, see what we have, use cap space to pick up expiring contracts from teams that want to get under lux tax and/or cap (and the draft picks or young players that come with it) and wait for the lotto.

Brooklyn and Atlanta are engaged in talks on a possible Joe Johnson trade, sources tell Y! Nets plan would be to pair with Deron Williams.

Brooklyn is in trouble with this GM.

    -#6 for Wallace
    -Trading for Joe Johnson

One of the most overrated players in the NBA with an anchor-contract.

Would that make Brook Lopez more attainable? Yeah their owner is just about the richest one in the league, but still, paying Johnson, Deron, Gerald, and other vets, will they be able to afford a large deal to Brook?

I agree. I don't want to go there. Not a good fit with what we hope Lillard to become, anyway.

Is his agent foreign or what? Maybe he just doesn't understand how the business side works here. Either way, he's really coming off as a bitter douche.

I can't think of a time when there has been more uncertainty for the Blazers going into free agency? I don't remember not having a really good idea who the Blazers are targeting right before free agency. Even when the Blazers could only use the MLE it was pretty clear who they were going after.

And who knows, maybe on top of the asset you get for taking it on, you can move them at the deadline for another asset.

Re: Now what? i.e. Free Agency

Trading LaMarcus away would be a complete rebuild. He is only 26, with skills that should keep him effective well into his 30's, so I would not go that route just yet. Young potential talent and draft picks always look sexy when you don't have them but very few actually amount to become stud difference makers. For a LaMarcus trade to provide a benefit we'd need an incoming asset to develop into an all-star, then another one of those assets to become an above average starter. That is a very unlikely scenario.

I'd rather take the risk of building around LaMarcus for another couple years and see if we'll be able to field a contender while he is in his prime. If we can't do that in a few seasons then at that point go ahead and tear down the house. But right now it would be a waste of the glass half full roster we do have.

Re: Now what? i.e. Free Agency

Sorry if I screwed up quoting somehwere, I was in no way saying trade LMA. I am saying trade our cap space, if we get no good signings, for someone's unwanted pieces, as mentioned earlier, and hopefully get a young asset in addition, to potentially be that young all star

Dwight Howard wants to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets but he knows it's unlikely. That's why he's exploring legal options to nullify opt-in
