This is the time to really cash in on LMA. Next years draft would be ideal but if you can do a Harden/Ibaka type of deal you do it.

Did any of you hear Doug Gottlieb (sp?) filling in for Colin on Friday morning? He flat out is accusing Prokerov (sp?) of verbally giving an agreement to D-Will (and if true i'm assuming Howard as well) to pay him additional money under the table. Gottlieb's reasoning is based on his time playing in Russia. He recounts many times during the season the owner of the team he played for would come down to the locker room after a game and hand out cash to the players that had good games. This was above and beyond their contractual agreement. He thinks the same thing is happening with the Nets but obviously on a grander scale. I thought it was an interesting take, and fun to to ponder, but dismissed it completely until Howard's trade request today.

The Rockets are trying to put together a package (any two of their three rookies + others) for Eric Gordon.

If Neil wants to I think we could trump this offer with Batum, whom the Hornets want.

With Chicago unable/unwilling(?) to deal one of Noah/Deng on draft night I think they will most certainly lose Asik.

Re: Now what? i.e. Free Agency

Yeah I meant to quote someone else... I think your plan could be a great use of cap space and let us try again for a stud free agent next offseason. The Sonics once used cap space to trade Kurt Thomas for 3 picks in two different trades. But front offices are notorious for nearly always using cap space on the best free agent they can find, even if they'd be better off signing nobody.

Re: Now what? i.e. Free Agency

Calderon will be an amnesty waiver. Depending on other signings that could be an intriguing guy to bid on. Much better backup then Nolan Smith!
