    Jerry Sloan, anyone?

Of course this all hinges on what Indiana will do.

Indy is for sure going to match the offer for Hibbert. I think the true reason we are submitting this offer is to:

    1. Possibly make a run at George Hill
    2. Proactively diminish the ability of a rival franchise making offers to Nic Batum

Back to your question, no I hate the idea of Jerry Sloan, the guy is old as dirt and won how many championships over 25 years? With the best pick and roll duo in NBA history?

Oh yeah that's right I won the same number of titles in less than 1 season as an NBA coach.

Its not a for sure thing. They didn't offer him the Max and have been reported all year saying they were not sure if they would match or not. They don't have a PA for an owner, there owner doesn't like paying the lux tax and might look at keeping Hill/Collison over keeping Hibbert. If they match Hibbert definitely make an offer for George Hill.

If Sloan was interested in being an assistant I'd give him an interview and if I were Paul Allen consider paying him quite well to accept the job. I think he has some good offensive ideas but there's no way I'd consider him for the head job.

We will see. I think at the least they match Hibbert then trade him for draft picks in December. Luxury tax isn't calculated until end of June after the finals.

It makes sense to groom Caleb as a lead assistant before we throw him into the fire as a head coach.

    Sloan makes sense.

If we get Gordon and hibbert how does Phil Jax say no to us then!

In all reality I like Calib but think he is a year or two away from being a head coach, I guess if we don't expect to win for 2 years whynot let him grow with the team, if we want to win next year go with Mike Malone/Shaw/Van Gundy their are a lot of coachs who could come in and have a nice go at it.

When Lillard was being interviewed after being selected, I thought I heard him mention Brian Shaw as a mentor? Did anyone else hear this? If so, I'm thinking Shaw could be considered....

One of the best coaches in league history who didn't win a title because of Michael Jordan? Yeah, no thanks. I'd interview him for the assistant coach position, but then just tell him to go to hell.

    Insane.

But but Utah (Sacramento) got rid of Sloan (Hickson). This proves that he's a steaming pile of crap.

Out of the coaches available, which one is the best in implementing the Pick-n-Roll? That seems to be the definitive direction we are going with Lillard, LA and Leonard on the roster. Obviously D'Antoni, but I'm not sure he is the best fit, at least defensively, with the roster.

yes because a quality franchise that held onto their coach for 25 years is exactly the same as a crappy team cutting a guy after half a season. sloan would be a good 1-2 stopgap, give K some experience and see what he can do.

Jordan had zero impact on the Jazz in 21 out of 23 years Sloan was coach. Sloan couldn't get more out of a team with two of the all-time great hall of fame players when he was in his 40's and 50's. Why is he going to perform better with lesser players in his 70's? How old is Sloan going to be when our core hits their prime, closing in on 80? How many hall of fame studs will Olshey need to add to the roster to win a title? Sloan couldn't do it with 2, so will we need 3 or 4?

I'd rather go with a different head coach.

I guess it all depends on what brand of basketball we as Blazer fans would want to see (answering the OP's thread title). D'Antoni would be great for an up-tempo, defenseless fun brand of basketball. That goes against the very nature of what we've grown used to over the decades. I wouldn't be shocked if we hear Brian Shaw's name more and more in the coming days/weeks. Anyone know his "style" of coaching? Up-tempo? Xs and Os? Defense?

I'd put my money on Shaw right now. It seems he may have the inside track if we get Hibbert. Shaw has coached Hibbert and has an Oakland connection with Lillard, n'est-ce pas? I'd rather hire Shaw than Jax or Sloan anyway.
