What an absolute steal for POR. Lillard or Barnes v. Gerald Wallace at probably a $30M+ discount over the next 4 seasons? Yes please.

Is this a set-up for a S&T for Howard? No way is he worth $40mil.

Good call by Wallace opting out.

Can the Nets and Wallace have a deal that they will offer that but to be signed after Nets sign FA? Wondering if Blazers could offer Batum a contract but not have it signed until after Blazers sign a fA?

Don't think this is for Howard because why would Orlando want Wallace for 4 years?

Thats within the rules, you can verbally agree to contracts right now. To bad Batums agent is holding a grudge and not listening to the Blazers. If we retain Batum he is going ot have to fire his agent, guy has burned some bridges.

That wouldn't help the Nets since Wallace has a cap hold that is larger then his contract. They will have more cap space once Wallace is officially signed.

Yes I am rally hating on this agent right now.

But Blazers are "allowed" to talk to dick agent and are the only team that can offer 5 years. Batum tweets all the time to Ptd fans and says nothing but good things about the city. Girlfriend is hoping they stay. Maybe they agree to a 5 yr deal and hold off on signing? But no matter what it is going to cost a lot and one gets the feeling agent won't cooperate unless Blazers offer "Chris Paul" money . . . agent seems to be taking this way too personal and this sucks for the Blazers.

Thanks. Makes sense then for Nets to get this done fast.

I can only hope that the Nets owner doesn't realize it's 40 million US dollars and not 40 million rouble.

Random question but could the nets trade Wallace now since they just resigned him? I feel like with the nets talking trades with Atlanta for joe Johnson and Dwight asking for a trade to the nets, they will do a sign and trade with Lopez for Dwight and a sign and trade for Johnson with Wallace. Or is that even possible?

I don't 'twit' so I don't know how it works, but can fans 'twit' back to Batum and educate him on how his agent is basically fucking him and us over, and implore him to wait a day to sign an offer? I'm all for Nico signing a great offer sheet for his future, but I'm even more for giving the Blazers the opportunity to take care of business before matching it. And we will.

If Batum is getting a $12m/y offer from Minnesota, can somebody explain to me how his agent is screwing him over? There is a finite amount of FA money available, and not accepting a large offer solely to help out Portland seems crazy to me. I'd fire my agent if he told me to pass on that offer, and that I should work with Portland and sign for less.

Who is saying he should pass on the deal or take less money? They are saying wait 1 day. I understand that is still a gamble. but none-the-less no one is saying to pass on the offer.

I think he can play until he's 34, but he's not going to be worth $10m/y, IMO. He was annoyingly inconsistent this past season for Portland, and I attribute that to his style of play, which required incredible effort on a nightly basis.

Does this deal have an option in the last year? If so, it isn't THAT bad.

At the level he's known for? No. And by the time he's 33 and 34, that $10mill/yr will almost certainly not be justifiable.
