I like that as well. LMA can't go into next season with Freeland and Nards as his centers, and nobody as his back-up.

    Asik is $5M, $5M, and a $15M expiring contract.

a 15 million expiring that, with LT, will cost 30 million, good luck with Chicago matching that.

But what has Lopez done lately? Hibbert was voted into the All Star game by the coaches and averaged 12/11/3 in two rounds of the playoffs.

Yeah, $8.33 per. Some media is reporting $24.2M total. Regardless, it's crazy.

Hibbert had asthma and fouls that limited his playing time. Those likely will both limit his playing time going forward. If Lopez is healthy I'd expect him to play more minutes then Hibbert.

Same thing as last year when someone paid Kwame Brown $7 million per.

That could be a toxic luxury tax offer to a team that'll be right at the tax line.

Yeah but Kwame was only a one-year deal. And for less than $8m per, IIRC. And as bad as he is, his stats are better than Asik's.

That I did not know, about the asthma. As for fouls, he had 3.6 personal fouls per 36 minutes. If his minutes really were limited for that reason, I'd say that was excessively cautious and unnecessary for Portland to do.

However, the asthma could certainly be an issue. I don't know how to evaluate that, so I'll just hope for the best if the Blazers acquire him.

Asik is a great defender and rebounder. He brings a lot of value despite low production.

Brown is actually a decent defender, too, so his salary was really not bananas, though maybe a bit on the high side.

I have a lot of concerns about Hibbert. But considering the deal would only be for 4 years, and he'll be 29 when the deal is completed, I'm not that concerned. He should last, and we'd have his best years.

In his last full season, he was a top 10 scorer in the league, I believe. That's what you want in a SG. In Lopez's last full season, he averaged 6 rebounds per game. That's not what you want out of your starting center.

I just heard David Aldridge on NBA TV say that Hibbert was blown away by the Blazers offer and he wants to go to Portland.

I say way to go Olshay - love the bold move!

His last full season? For the last 3 years, he's played. 9, 56, and 62 games (after 78 his rookie year).

So tell us which "full" season...
