Sam Amick @sam_amick Source says Portland nearing a buyout with 26-year-old small forward Shawne Williams. Not done yet, though. He's owed $3.1 mil next season.
Thats actually a good deal for the nets. Good idea to put a top five rebounder next to brook at that cost. Im guessting they are gonna let hump go cause of all the money they have tied up now.
Doesn't change our cap number, but it probably saves Paul a couple of million. PS. He must suck dog balls?
It could change our cap number, but am not 100% surehow stretch provision works in regards to buyout/waiving players. If we buy him out for 3, can we stretch waive him, or no. I am also curious on how his next contract would factor in. Previously, when bought out, if you were signed elsewhere, the previous team's responsibility was shorted by that amount. Which happened slightly when Steve Francis was bought out here. So, if we buy him out for 3 million, then stretch him over 3 years, we get a hit of 1 million a year. If he signs elsewhere for the league minimum, does that then reduce our cap hit to 0? I doubt it, am sure I am missing something in there.
