Hawes wouldn't be the end of the world. He'd be a good fill in, then spend the money saved on other guys. Smegma would just be the 12th man.
When I saw Smegm/Smardzja/Smiley was announced to be on the Team USA Select team working against the real team, I really didn't even know who he was, or why he was on that team. I confused him with the other big white dude on Boston quite often, and totally forgot about him when that team was announced.
I actually really like Stiemsma, for what he is. Shoots a good percentage, averages 4 blocks per 36. Good at post defense as well with a strong body. His stats are extremely similar to Asik's, but with Asik being the better rebounder, and Stiemsma being better on offense and at blocking shots. That said, I do think Hawes is significantly better, Stiemsma is more of a ~15-20 minute bench player, or stopgap starter.
I just like typing Smegma. I was completely wrong on Gortat and what he could do in PHX with more minutes, so I won't underestimate centers with solid per/36 numbers again until proved otherwise.
I actually like Hawes. The Republican thing was a joke (he is one though). I don't dislike all Republican's. Steimsma is a good role player, there's a reason he was getting a lot burn in the playoffs. He can block shots at an elite level and plays good defense. Rondo even occasionally feeds him the open dunk when he's lucky. I don't think Hawes would be a bad signing at all. I think he'd like to be back in the Northwest again, too. I've always looked at his game as having a lot of potential, he lived up to it this year in Philly.
You must be new here or haven't paid attention to the op's usual posts. I don't blame you either one.
It's "Republicans". It wasn't a 'joke', it was troll bait. Plus, Smegma got <8mpg in the playoffs, which was far under his regular season number of 14mpg. Not sure how that amounts to him "getting a lot of burn in the playoffs". Seems to me he was played less in the playoffs.
For the record, who really cares what the guy is politically if he can play ball? Oden campaigned for Obama, yet I still wanted the guy to succeed in Portland. Hawes has a fairly complete offensive game. Smegma can dunk and block a few shots, but he doesn't rebound or score like Hawes, and he's older than Hawes.
It was from this post. http://sportstwo.com/threads/216867-Rockets-meet-with-Jeremy-Lin?p=2821265#post2821265 Wrong thread. I was on conference calls all day and trying to do a WebEx training.
For the record... Judging by your draft picking, you'll be on the Republican bandwagon in no time. But you're probably not qualified anyway.
"He got a lot of burn in the playoffs" 8mpg in the playoffs compared to 14mpg in the regular season. What the joke supposed to be your knowledge about him? Or was that just your ignorance? Because your ignorance of his playing time in the playoffs is actually quite funny.
