Steve Nash lives in New York City and wants to play there. Since the Nets are off the table, Nash is telling the Knicks to work a sign-and-trade to get him on the team. Right now the holdup is that the Knicks don't want to give up Iman Shumpert and can't include Landry Fields in a sign-and-trade, supposing Fields signed the offer sheet from the Raptors since making a verbal agreement. This is all according to Alan Hahn. The Knicks also need to find a way to satisfy the CBA in terms of matching the salaries coming in and out since they are over the cap.

In related news Jeremy Lin, who the Knicks could send to Phoenix, has a 4/40 offer from Houston, back-loaded, according to reports.

The Knicks are reportedly offering a 3-year, $27-30m deal for Nash to join. They are ironing out a sign-and-trade agreement but the details of that aren't out yet.

Really, Iman Shumpert is the asset that's holding up a Steve Nash sign-and-trade? That hack for a legit point guard? Should be a no brainer...

BTW - Where'd you get this information, like the fact that he'd rather play for the Knicks?

^ The Landry Fields offer was a deliberate attempt by the Raptors to scuttle a sign-and-trade from Phoenix to New York. Wouldn't have been necessary if Nash wasn't interested in playing there.
