The Lakers now need new-style players. They could trade Gasol for Channing Frye and still come out ahead.

I'm not mad, I didn't mean to come off as aggressive or anything. Kobe isn't an idiot, he knows if he wants another chance at a ring and to extend his career, he needs a G on board who can handle the ball. He recruited Nash, I don't think he has any issues with Nash controlling the ball. He's got great respect for Nash and has even called Phoenix a rival. I don't think this will be an issue to be honest.

Does it make us contenders? I don't know. It moves us in the right direction to to compete with the unit we have now. I'd still like to see if we can swing Dwight, but it definitely improves us. Kobe can be a prick and all of that, but I don't think Kobe will be an issue in regards to Nash controlling the ball.

In his "second Bulls career," Jordan played off the ball a ton. Kobe has definitely shown he can play that game. If he lets Nash direct traffic, as Pippen did for the Bulls, and focuses on being a post-up, back-cutting and catch-and-shoot weapon most of the time, the Lakers' offense could be pretty scary.

A declining Kobe/Gasol w/ Nash still don't come close to OKC.

Unless Howard is moved, this is the biggest NBA news event this summer.

Deron Williams, no, because 1) he was only re-signed, and didn't change teams, and 2) the Nets will be only a. 500 team and not a factor in the playoffs.

True story! Seriously, I agree with you. People hate on age and inabilities, but what each of those guys brings to the table can be hugely beneficial for their teams.

Nash isn't declining at any significant level. He should be, and maybe he will next year, but he's basically been around the same level for the past decade. And I agree with jlprk that Nash is currently underrated (though he was overrated when he won the two MVP awards). Nash is shooting and passing at a historically good level.

I didn't say he was, but Kobe and Gasol are certainly declining.

Priorities have sure gotten worse. The worst players are now paid more than the best. Gerald Wallace is twice the player Batum is or ever will be. It now pays to not improve yourself, year after year.

Yeah, I misread you. Well, I don't think Gasol is, really...I think his demise has been exaggerated a great deal. Kobe's clearly solidly past his prime, though. And Bynum is a very good player.

This season, Andre Miller will make $3M and know-nothing Damian Lillard will make about $2.5M.

I'm a bit disappointed that I have to hate Steve Nash now.

    But I'll do it.

The Lakers needed a PG that could defend the quicker opposing Pg's . (See JJ Barea and Westbrook from the last two playoff ass kickings) and they went out and got Steve Nash. Interesting. I admit that should help Bynum actually touch the ball in the 4th qtr, but I don't see how this helps overcome their biggest weakness.

I don't know, guys...the Lakers aren't so bad. If you all had been born in Southern California, you'd all be Lakers fans right now. I say we enjoy watching Nash and Kobe form one of the great backcourts of all-time.

    Who's with me?

Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA Ramon Sessions won't return to the Los Angeles Lakers, source close to situation reiterates. He wants a starting job. He'll sign elsewhere.

Dragic, Lin and Sessions all want starting gigs. I hope they are ready to play for some awful teams.
